2004 Nissan Maxima ES V6
Summary:
Losing confidence, but undecided on future purchase of another Nissan
Faults:
Transmission seems to slip when going from 2nd to 3rd gear. This has happened for quite a while. Transmission fluid level and quality are good.
Recently, the transmission will stick in 5th gear and the engine will stall. It is then hard to re-start the engine and the transmission remains in 5th until it cools.
General Comments:
Same song and same verse. The Maxima is a beautiful car and handles well (although I rarely drive over the speed limit and even more rarely do I have hard take offs).
For a long time now the transmission seems to slip when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. The engine rev's really high like it is in neutral, then finally the next gear catches and the car surges forward.
More frustrating, at exactly 100,000 miles the transmission locks into 5th gear and the engine stalls. The engine is hard to restart, and when it does the transmission usually stays stuck in 5th gear unless it has had time to cool down.
Every vehicle I have ever owned I have been able to put between 180,000-250,000 without any major problems. Just oil and filter changes every 3,000 miles. I bought this Nissan specifically because my friends have told me how reliable their Nissan's have been. How disappointed I am if this thing continues to have problems at such the ripe young age of 4 years old.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I got my car back from AMMCO, and so far it has been running great. There wasn't hard part damage, so that was good, but the total cost was over $3000.00 Good thing I had extended warranty on it, and it only cost me 300 dollars. I will keep you posted.
