1987 Nissan Pulsar NX 1.5
Summary:
One of the best economy cars ever built
Faults:
When I bought my Pulsar it had a blown engine. I had one sent to Fairbanks Alaska from Japan that had 30,000 miles on it for $500.00 FOB. Since that time the head warped when my girlfriend was using it. Replaced it for $50.00 from an Ebay auction.
General Comments:
I believe you would have a hard time coming up with a better first car than the Pulsar. It's one of the most dependable cars I have ever owned. At
-35 degrees without an engine heater it's often the only car we have that will start, and that includes a Subaru Legacy and a Toyota 4X4. Besides the rock solid dependability it has a body design that, up to now, has never looked dated. I also thought the whole offering three different types of body attachments was really cool, but you never see anyone with anything, but the sedan. There have been times I wanted to pick up a Corvette, but honestly until this car bites the dust I'm happy with it as a sporty looking alternative. I pass a lot more gas stations than a Corvette can.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Before you nominate it for car of the century...
Did you ever see the crash test results for a Pulsar? Maybe it's a good thing you are in Alaska. Not so much to hit. My friend came out of a relatively minor accident with his looking like Frankenstein and was given last rites. Good luck.
