1995 Nissan Quest XE

Summary:

Well worth the money

Faults:

No engines issues whatsoever.

My main concern is only that the automatic front passenger seat belt motor can be potentially damaged if the front sun visors are in its way.

The side mirrors could be bigger for more coverage. And again for more coverage, the Quest should have been built with a (custom) drivers rear view mirror.

General Comments:

I'm very impressed with my Nissan Quest XE minivan. Especially this last winter, when it started on the first try every time in snowy winter weather that was consistently 20 degrees and below.

I'm also impressed with the engine power this minivan has. The manual overdrive has also been very helpful when climbing steep grades. The gas mileage is well within competitive range of any minivan in its class. The sleek body and look of this van stays current.

The interior has a very classy and clean look to it. I have not had one engine related problem since I have owned it. Perfect for a single dad with sole custody of two little boys. I love driving this van all over. I recommend it to anyone!

1995 Nissan Quest GXE 3.0L V6

Summary:

A comfortable family vehicle

Faults:

Shortly after we bought it, some of the interior trim started peeling off from the rear hatch.

In the last year, there have been problems with the electrical system bleeding power for no apparent reason, and no error codes from a reader. This has resulted in numerous jump-starts.

General Comments:

A very comfortable minivan. The leather seats and large cabin were nice for hauling the family around.

Smooth driving. The acceleration is smooth, and the shocks give a nice even ride.

Plenty of capacity. Although shorter than other minivans, it has plenty of room for cargo and passengers. We were even able to carry a full size washer and dryer in the back simultaneously, and still had enough room for the baby's carseat.

I wish I knew what was up with the electrical system, though I'm sure it had something to do with the daytime running lights.

1995 Nissan Quest GXE 3.0 V6

Summary:

Need a mini-van, but don't have the money for the Honda? Buy this one

Faults:

Transmission went out at 179,000. Bought a dyno-tested tranny from Phoenix Hard Parts. After overcharging me for shipping and refusing to return my core charge they still refuse to fix the problem. $600 of additional work later, it still doesn't always shift out of first. Phoenix Hard Parts turned one of the best cars I have ever owned into a tragedy.

General Comments:

The Quest was great for 175,000 miles. One of the exhaust studs sheared around 80,000. The engine mounts went at about 150,000. The radio was the only sub-par component. It died just after the warranty ran out. The replacement unit has better sound and the children cannot control it from the back unless an adult hands them the remote.
