2001 Nissan Quest GLE 3.3 liter V6

Summary:

Sporty, fun to drive and very reliable

Faults:

The gear indicator broke, and will not read the correct gear it is driving in.

Replaced rear brakes.

Replaced front axle.

Door handle on driver's side rear sliding door.

Does not start well in winter, drives poor.

General Comments:

I LOVE my 2001 Nissan Quest. The van has a sporty build, and drives like a sports car with quick acceleration and smooth steering. It has enough room to comfortable seat 7 people, and includes leather sides (the front are heated). The dark grey interior is family friendly and hides stains. The tinted windows are a great privacy feature. Gas mileage is still good.

My complaint is that my Quest does not run well when temps hit below 30 - it takes a long time to warm up, brakes lock up, heater is slow to warm, and overall it just doesn't run well. Other than that, any mechanical issues I have had are related to its age, and I do not believe reflect on the quality of this vehicle.

I am happy with my 2001 Quest and anticipate many more productive years.

Long warm-up in cold weather is probably due to a tired thermostat. They tend to become slow/stuck open a little on cold high-mileage Quests. My '94 started taking a while in early 2017, but I'm holding out until the next T-belt change. I drive off after a minute of idling and it gives good interior heat eventually.

Works normally in the summertime though :-)

2001 Nissan Quest SE 3.3L

Summary:

WOW! I love a MiniVan

Faults:

Rear window wiper needed to be fixed. Worked but parked itself down off the window when you turned it off.

General Comments:

Most the service issues were dealing with vandalism. Someone broke side mirror off it one night.

Mechanically the van has run like a champ. To be honest I never thought I would like a minivan, but this is probably one of the most convenient vehicles I have ever owned. What I like:

Came with VCR as standard; a life saver with my little daughter on long trips.

Handles like a car.

Plenty of power with the V6 engine.

Has sliding doors on both sides of the vehicle, very convenient.

Minor irritants:

Sliding doors I like so much seem to let more noise in.

Wish the VCR was a DVD, probably are in the new models.

All I can say is this is probably the best all around vehicle I have ever owned. Can take it anywhere, it's comfortable, has decent power and enough room for all my needs.

2001 Nissan Quest SE 3.3

Summary:

This is my second one in 6 years

Faults:

Air conditioner never worked from the day I bought it, but the dealer fixed it.

Fog light went out after 3 days of purchase, and the dealer fixed it.

The second row captain chairs and windows rattle too much.

Rear suspension bushings went out at 2500 miles and the dealer replaced them.

Both front window seals came apart and were replaced at 9000 miles.

General Comments:

Smooth riding, fast and sturdy all around van.
