2014 Nissan Rogue S 2.5 I4

Faults:

CVT transmission.

General Comments:

Very comfortable car. The (front) NASA seats are great.

The car was used as a highway commuter, hence it having 100000 miles after 3 years. The car was maintained by the book at the dealer. The CVT transmission failed at 103000 miles. Seems like planned obsolescence. Very unfortunate and disappointing. Dealer is charging $5000 to fix. The car isn't paid off yet. Won't be doing a Nissan or a CVT next time.

Original poster here, after trying to open a case to see if I could get any sort of refund or something, Nissan said there is nothing they can do since the car had 103k at time of failure. This is the outcome I expected, but there you go. Keep this in mind if you buy Nissan.

CVT failure in not uncommon on Rogues with high mileage. I'd suggest subscribing and asking advice on Nissan Rogue forums, then contact directly US Nissan headquarters about the issue.

Be sure to replace the CVT fluid every 30,000 miles. It is a very expensive fluid, but as you can see a new CVT transmission is fairly more expensive

2015 Nissan Rogue SL 2.5

Summary:

Somehow satisfied, but quality issues

Faults:

CVT is leaking, parts are on order, took some time to get them, gonna get it repaired this week.

Bose audio system is slow when starting the car (mapping USB) and sometimes the GPS is slow to react.

Paint is fragile (stone chips), and the roof rack is beginning to corrode due to paint flaking off.

General Comments:

The seating is the best, zero gravity seats are very comfy.

Bose audio system sounds amazing.

AWD is very good in snow; push the AWD button and pass everyone on at the red light.

Camera system works good, and makes it easy to park.

Good cargo space.

Combined fuel economy at 10.6l/100km.

My 2015 Rogue SL 2WD is still running great. Was bought new in that year in October; even the CVT still works fine, no issues whatsoever.

2011 Nissan Rogue S 2.5 4-cylinder

Summary:

An awesome compromise between room, mileage, acceleration, and handling!

Faults:

Only the expected battery and tires.

General Comments:

I bought this car to give myself and my two rapidly growing sons a little more room - both for us and our sports gear. Being spoiled by the EXCELLENT mileage of my 1993 Honda Civic (33/40 MPG), I wanted something that would still get good gas mileage.

After looking at the Honda Fit, Honda Element, Nissan Juke, and a few others, I found a great deal on this 2011 model, with a few miles left on the warranty. Within a month, I had to replace the battery and tires, but with 3 years/60k miles, that was expected - I typically replace batteries with a DieHard and mismatched tires with new ones, anyway, so no complaints. With the CVT, it took a bit of getting used to, but it gives surprisingly good acceleration when you step on it, but still gets a very respectable 23-25 MPG around town, and 27-31 MPG highway - depending on how much the Florida heat compels me to use the air conditioning.

I'm 6'3" and 225 lbs, and feel very comfortable in this vehicle, even on a couple of 9+ hour road trips. Set the cruise control. And the CVT does a remarkable job keeping a steady speed up and down hills. The AWD makes me feel safe in the frequent rain here in Florida, and the suspension is firm enough so that it doesn't feel as mushy in turns as many similarly sized SUVs.

I have enjoyed my first few months in this vehicle. Many fellow Rogue owners say great things about these vehicles, as does the garage that changes my oil. I look forward to many more years and miles in mine.

I've owned a 2012 now for > a year and 18,000 miles as a second owner.

Quite a pleasant surprise!

Like was said: consistent 24 MPG in town and frequent 30+/- on the highway with cruise control.

Just unstoppable in the snow with standard all season tires.

I intended to buy a used Forester, but their resale is too high and this car is quieter, handles better and actually holds more stuff than I thought possible.

Don't hesitate if you find a deal. It's a solid firm SUV and I actually enjoy the smart CVT.
