The same thing happen to me! dip stick broke off and Jiffy lube put it back in broken!!!

My engine turned off while I was driving and now they are saying there was a recall on the ECM foam lining. all the things that happen were EXACTLY what happen to my car, so they replace the foam, but tell me oh your ECM is bad. My car is not old enough to have a messed up computer. I'm fighting with nissan that the foam lining that wasnt replaced (because I was never told about the recall) caused my ECM to fail. I have had such a headache with this call. 2 months already that its been broken and doesn't help I work 20+ miles from home. NEVER getting a nissan ever again!

I just pawned this car off on a dealership to get a Toyota Rav4. Right before I tried to trade it in, I discovered more problems. The coolant reservoir was leaking, the spare tire was flat (I never used it so it may have been a time thing), blew another thermostat, and the ABS indicator light kept coming on and off sporadically.

Thank God Toyota didn't notice these problems. LOVE the RAV4!!!

2002 Nissan Sentra GXE

Summary:

Not worth even a penny!

Faults:

At around 20,000 miles, the engine began to idle high. I had brought the car into 2 different dealerships 10 times last year (not exaggerating) for the check engine light coming on. They hooked the computer in the car up to another computer, and the code was an emissions code. I had, at the advisement of the service team, replaced the gas cap, not once, but twice.

2 weeks later, as always, the check engine light had come on again, and once again I brought it to the dealership, and once again it was an emissions code. Now instead of advising me to get a new gas cap, they told me that it is my purge valve. Needless to say, to this day my engine still idles high, and when brought to their attention that this problem still exists, they refused to refund my money for a problem they had not fixed.

Also, today I brought my car in to Walmart to get my oil changed, only to find out that the metal dipstick had broken completely off the plastic handle. So I decided to research both problems, and apparently I am not even close to being the only one having these problems.

I would never advise anyone to buy a Nissan, for their products are not up to standards, and their customer service stinks.

I've had nothing but problems with my 2002 Nissan Sentra ever since it had 7000 miles. I did buy it new and I never abuse my vehicles.

The Check Engine light came on and I took it to the Nissan dealer to have repaired. Not only did they not fix the problem, but the service was lousy. First it was an oxygen sensor. After two days of them having the car, and myself having to rent a car, they tell me after I called them that the part was back-ordered. They tell me we meant to call you.

I didn't want to keep paying for a rental, so I went to get the car and took it to an independent mechanic. They were able to get one the next day. I had it replaced and the light stayed off for half a day. The car ran rough, especially at red lights, and when I got off the freeway. Like it was ready to quit on me.

I know this is an inexpensive vehicle. I bought it for commuting, and had to keep using it while the light stayed on. I end out finding that the problem was the computer all along.

The car has only 67000 miles now. If the dealer would have diagnosed the problem right the first time, I wouldn't have to fork out for a new computer now.

The clear coat on the paint starting peeling after only 50000 miles.

My wife wanted me to get an Altima or Maxima and sell the Sentra. I'll sell the Sentra and buy anything but a Nissan.
