2000 Nissan X-Terra 3.3
Summary:
Seemed like a good idea at the time
Faults:
Window regulators, oil leaks, coolant leaks, distributor, radiator, A/C, diff noise, peeling clear coat.
General Comments:
More comfy/roomy than a comparable 4Runner.
Brake and clutch pedals are too close and I've slammed on the brakes endless times when shifting.
Mileage is marginal, lackluster power.
There is no reason a vehicle these days can't go 200K plus without major unit repairs.
The cooling system uses some 8 or 10 hoses, which some are impossible to change without major disassembly. Nissan also used sealer instead of gaskets on several of the assemblies, which has failed leaving endless annoying small coolant system leaks. Something like a failed hose on a trip thru Redneckistan, and you might as well burn the thing on the spot, as repairs will be in the thousands while Billy Bob tries to access some of the hoses.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I was told, 1st gear on these types of cars is not meant to be engaged while moving. Only from a stand still. Some safety design to protect the engine.
