2003 Nissan X-Terra 3.3 V6

Summary:

Great and reliable

Faults:

Not much has gone wrong with it; it's been really good actually.

Changed the spark plugs and fluids on time, otherwise it's been great.

No problems, never been in the shop, the only thing I am noticing is the shocks/suspension is starting to make noises; might need to be changed. Makes weird noise over bumps and what not.

Otherwise a great truck; very reliable.

General Comments:

Great truck, 4x4 is awesome.

The seats are good and comfortable, the back seats offer a great view.

The one thing I think this truck needed is more power. It struggles on up hills. 185 is not enough for this size truck, it needs more. Nissan changed the engine size after a few years, I think 06 or 07.

But yeah, otherwise a good truck, no problems, Nissan made a good solid ride.

Update: this SUV is nearing over 202000 kms and still is running solid. Never had a problem with it.

The only thing is the seats are wearing out a bit, the cloth has ripped a bit; had to get seat covers.

It could use some more power but either than that, the truck is great. Hopefully will get another 100,000 kms out of it and I'll be happy.

2003 Nissan X-Terra SE SC 3.3 Supercharged V6

Summary:

Very reliable, very capable, very enjoyable!!!

Faults:

Loose plate under vehicle needed to be tightened.

My Xterra is regularly maintained by Nissan. I haven't had any mechanical problems in the three years I've owned it.

General Comments:

My Xterra has been very reliable and is brilliant in the winter.

There is plenty of storage space in the back.

With the supercharger I find that the acceleration is very good for a vehicle this size (in addition to its existing weight my Xterra also has a bush bar, over-sized off-road tires/rims, Rally lights, and rear light guards). Similarly the Xterra also handles very well.

The only negative with the Xterra is gas consumption, which is something that I accepted when I decided to purchase an SUV.

2003 Nissan X-Terra EX V6

Summary:

Exactly what I expected and paid for

Faults:

In the beginning, the check engine light came on. The dealership had to reset it twice before completely going away. I also I had to have numerous brackets replaced from the front bumper, but other than that, just normal oil changes.

General Comments:

I really enjoy having the 4x4 and it works like a charm. When I bought the truck, I knew I would be in for a rough ride so no complaints there. The back seat could use a little more room, but compared to others in it's class it is comparable (Jeep Liberty, Honda CRV, etc). For the price, I believe I got exactly what I paid for. The only thing I am very disappointed with is the gas mileage. The sticker states 17-21 but I am lucky if I get 16 with either city or highway. This is now my "winter" vehicle only to save on gas.

2003 Nissan X-Terra SE-SC V6 SC

Summary:

I was even sad when I traded it in

Faults:

Aside from not having the best gas mileage, I never had a single problem.

The rear windshield wiper had only one speed (super fast) which was rather annoying.

General Comments:

It was an awesome car for me... meaning I am single and very outdoor active.

It was not designed as a luxury vehicle so it doesn't have a lot of frills, but what it did have made sense. It was a good compromise for a person that is not an absulute SUV junkie.

It was pretty quick with the Super Charger, but still a little underpowered at 210 Hp. This years has a 270 Hp I believe.

Nissan had every accessory you could want for this vehicle. I would recommend the all-weather floor mats and the neoprene seat covers to everyone as a must.

2003 Nissan X-Terra SE-SC super charged

Summary:

Great vehicle for outdoor adventure

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

Has been very dependable. I have had no problems.

The seats could be more comfortable. After a few hours my back will ache.

I have noticed that when the vehicle shifts from 1st gear to 2nd gear, it is very noticeable and firm. I reported this to the dealership and they reported that similar customers have reported the same circumstance. They stated that it has not been a problem, concerning repairs.

I agree with the shifting from 1st to 2nd gear... it's rough. I was going to bring it in to the dealership in a few days to have them look at it... I will keep this website posted and up to date on anything that I find out.
