Faults:

Air condition compressor froze fairly soon after the car was made drive-able.

General Comments:

Inherited this car from my 92 year old aunt who bought it new in 76. It is a 2 door triple white coupe with only 31K miles. I have named it "Her Majesty". It sat in my aunt's garage for 8 years after she broke her hip and stopped driving. I've replaced all rubber lines, hoses and gaskets, tires, AC system, belts etc... anything that could dry rot.

This is a one-car parade and it really must be driven with one's nose in the air. Seriously, I had forgotten how comfortable top-of-the-line American cars were. It's like climbing into a king-size bed that you happen to be able to drive.

Faults:

Front End needs repair (typical old-car slop).

Carb needs work.

Engine needs good tune-up.

Driver's seat worn badly.

Dash lights work intermitently.

Blower motor bad.

Heater Core bad.

Vacuum leaks galore.

Exhaust rusted off.

General Comments:

I got this car for a cheap price at an impound auction so I can't complain much about the problems it has (that's to be expected from an older car anyway). The 455 motor is a beast and moves this huge car without effort. The heavy duty THM-400 Trans shifts smooth as butter. However the interior and front-end components do need some work. I like the removable side-skirts, it adds a mafioso quality to the car's styling. However the rest looks like they took styling cues from Buick, Pontiac, and Cadillac and put it all on this one Oldsmobile model so it looks like the car is a little confused about its identity. I also think its funny how they build a car that weighs a few tons with huge motor and then put a fuel-economy gauge in it (that's the 70's for ya). A mechanic told me I could get at least another 50,000 miles out of this car without any major rebuild, but the gas prices are killing me so I've decided to sell it for about 400 bucks. One good thing is it's a Seattle car so no major rust on the body (we don't salt our roads). I'll miss this car, but its time for me to go with something smaller.

Faults:

Besides wear items, the only problem I have had besides keeping the gas tank full, is faulty ignition modules.

General Comments:

I would give up my left arm before giving up this car.

I grew up in cars like this and nothing beats the floaty ride

Living in New England, my Olds sees all kinds of weather and nothing stops this car.
