1986 Oldsmobile Delta 88

Summary:

It's good :)

Faults:

Nothing's really broke, it's just not like it should be. The transmission does worry me a little, it acts like it doesn't want to go into gear for a second or two, but I have yet to check the transmission fluid or anything really.

The air conditioner has a fuel'ish smell. I'm definitely gonna check on that, and ceiling upholstery is hanging down.

General Comments:

I really love this car, though mainly because it's my first car. But I do like the way it runs and feels; it's real comfortable. After a little work I think I'll be real proud to call it my car.

1986 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal 3.8L V6

Summary:

I bought the same model and year twice!

Faults:

It is a 17 year old car, so it has some expected wear.

I replaced the shifter cable. I did the work myself. It was easy to do.

I was getting a Service engine soon light. It was easily repaired by replacing the EGR control solenoid, which is attached to the coil pack.

When this part went bad on both my Delta 88 cars it gave a code for the oxygen sensor being bad, but it is actually the before mentioned part that needs replacement. It is very easy to change. It is easy to reach and only need to pull out two small hoses and take out one easy to reach bolt.

General Comments:

I love this car, so much so that I bought the same model and year twice.

The other Delta 88 I had was wrecked when a guy ran a stop sign and hit my rear right tire head on.

The car has manual windows and everything else is manual. Just the way I like it. Cheaper to repair!

The interior is nice. with soft velvet bench seats.

The only automatic thing in it is the Transmission.

The car runs so smoothly, is very comfortable. And it is very strong.

A lot of people can't believe how quiet it is.

The styling of this car is very beautiful.

Those big tail lights are nice and add security to the car because they are so easy to see.

The first car I bought for $500 needed a timing chain. A friend and I did the work on it for a little over one hundred dollars in parts. The delta 88 I have now has not needed that work done.

The first car I bought it because I got it pretty cheap and bought a second one because I fell in love with the 1986 Delta88's reliability and styling.

This car runs so clean. You should see it's engine.

It doesn't burn oil.

Whenever I give someone a ride they are impressed from the moment I turn the key.

A bonus is how good it still looks. It's sky blue paint still shines up nice.

Rock on. I've also got a sky blue 86 Delta 88. I love it and am very proud. I bought it for $100 off a college student a little over 2 years ago. Since then I have replaced the timing chain, rear brakes and master cylinder, and serpentine belt. I have maintained it regularly at Jiffy Lube and have also gotten fuel injectors cleaned and transmission fluid changed. It runs great.

I also bought two '86 Delta 88, but not in blue, I only bought the second one years later because I loved that car. The first one lasted 17 years and had very few problems the second got written off when a big Benz rear-ended me at a red light. They outdid themselves on that one, had I known how unique that car was I would have spent huge amounts to keep them. I still own an olds, Delta 88 good of course, but if I could I would trade it for the 1986. What a car!

It flew, it had the best air condition, very comfortable it was perfect...
