1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue GX 3.8 V6
Summary:
An underrated car
Faults:
Mass air flow sensor went at 68,000 (my fault... drove through large puddle)
Rear passenger window quit at 79,000.
Blower only works on highest setting.
Gearshift knob broke off at 81,000.
General Comments:
Overall I am very pleased with the car. Plenty of power although I am not particularly an aggressive driver and decent handler for a moderately heavy car. Highway mileage is phenomenal. The car has had a few minor problems, but for being a 9 year old car with almost 100,000 on it I can't complain at all. One thing I did when I first got the car is follow my mechanic's recommendation and flush the Dex-cool out and replace it with the green stuff. The radiator, water pump, and intake manifold are all still in great shape as a result. The change intervals are reduced to 2 years, but it's definitely worth it.
Car still looks great as the paint hasn't faded at all and the interior has held up decently. Anyone on a budget looking for a good used family car should definitely consider looking at an Intrigue.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Who ever is doing the service work on your car must not know much. I can tell just by how you say you smell coolant and it runs hot that your intake manifold gasket is leaking. Every 3.8 in a gm vehicle will experience this problem around 100,000 miles give or take. Get it replaced, and make sure that your shop uses the updated gaskets, which are made by fel-pro. That would take care of your overheating and coolant smell.
