Faults:

Water Pump.

Short in the ignition system - wow, needed entire dash ripped out, ignition replaced (new key fob), all new wiring from the steering column to the starter. There are no Olds dealers anymore, so the GM dealer ordered 88 LS parts - they did not work for obvious reasons.

Eats front brake pads for breakfast - no big deal, I change myself.

General Comments:

All in all, an excellent car. Bored out the intake box, K&N Filter, Flowmax muffler, will be re-chipping the computer soon. Quick enough to be dangerous, and fast enough to bounce off the rev limiter at 122 MPH. The traction control is bloody awful though. I always turn it off, so no big deal. My last car was an Audi 5000S with a 5 speed, and this Olds will eat it for breakfast.

Love the interior, comfortable and roomy. Needed to seriously upgrade the stereo, but that is just me. These cars are rare, so stock up on parts and keep it.

Faults:

Water leaking into car, have to seal up the drip rails and clean up the floor pan.

General Comments:

Man- this thing moves. It's not the supercharged LSS, but with the factory 3.06:1 ratio and the smooth shifting 4T60-E transmission, and the 205 HP 3800 SERIES II engine, all I can say is WOW- it nearly keeps up to my 403 Olds powered Parisienne!

It handles really well, has a whole list of options, but I wish it had the fuel economy / engine info display like the Olds 98 Regency. Love the car though, got a great deal on it.

Fuel economy- it can run forever on a tank. Everyday driving I've been getting 35 MPG (4.55 liter imperial gallon).

It's smooth and quiet, and I don't think that Lincolns, Cadillacs, or BMWs would ever handle better than this.

It's black with the silver 5 spoke aluminum rims (factory 16x7) with 225/60/R16 tires- they really grip the road.

This is a mans toy. Nothing that really stands out too much, nothing really all that flashy, but get behind the wheel...

Faults:

ABS system (replaced under warranty)

Wires on motor that reclines driver's seat broke (had to re-wire motor)

Water pump

Starter

Battery (original AC-Delco battery died after 9 years, 81k miles!)

Remote key fobs (have had to repeatedly re-solder battery holders)

Suspension squeaks in cold weather.

General Comments:

This is the second LSS I've owned. It has some major upgrades from my previous one (1994 model), including seats and center console same as an Aurora, which make for a much more comfortable interior. The exterior is much sportier looking with a re-designed grille and 5-spoke sport wheels.

The car has much tighter handling than the '94 model and has a silky-smooth ride.

Performance and acceleration are excellent, as is the gas mileage. I've gotten more than 30mpg on more than one road trip. The best I ever got was 35mpg--Outstanding!

Faults:

I purchased the vehicle with the knowledge of some issues. Since purchase nothing has gone wrong, but certain issues have gotten worse owing to my lack of repairing.

Power steering pump leaks and needs replacing.

Vibration between 105-120km/h.

Alternator, although appears to be new, needs to be replaced.

General Comments:

I bought the car relatively cheap considering it had as many km. on it as it does. For a vehicle with over 360000km on it, I cannot believe the performance.

The car is a large, luxurious vehicle, but it can really jump when you put your foot into it.

The engine is solid, and with a tune up it runs like brand new.

Faults:

Nothing except I think the transmission is ready to go. That's why I bought the warranty.

Vibration is bad on the highway.

General Comments:

The car I had and still have is a 1993 Oldsmobile 88 Ls. I bought the 1997 LSS because I wanted the sports version of my 88 which is the LSS supercharged.

First off this car is very fast. It throws you back in you're seat without mercy. 0-60 mph for this car arrives in 6.8 seconds.

It has every option, including the moon-roof.

Even with the sport tuned suspension it doesn't handle much better than the 88.

The seats are much harder than on my 88.

It is much quieter at idle than the 88.

Looks very aggressive and has an eleigant interior.
