1992 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo 3.8 V6

Summary:

Super smooth ride

Faults:

The dash lights don't work; checked the fuses, and all are working!?

I had an OLDSMOBILE Aurora 1997; the 2 best cars ever sold in the USA, and oh are they fast.

General Comments:

Nice fast sharp eye catcher. Way ahead of Ford and Dodge in 92.

I am having the same problem with dash lights. Did you find out why?

1992 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo 6 Cylinder

Summary:

This is an awsome car, wish I had bought it brand new!!

Faults:

Besides the normal tune up items, I have replaced the tires, the water pump, a coolant hose, radiator and a/c compressor.

The front seats are pretty worn. The driver's seat is the worse.

The driver's window is in need of a new motor. It only rolls down part of the way.

General Comments:

The car still handles very well and gets pretty good gas mileage.

I bought the car with 48,000 miles and now it has 125,000 and still runs pretty good.

It is the most comfortable car I have driven and hope to keep it for at least another three years.

1992 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo 3.8 V6 3.8

Summary:

Great styling, with good ergonomics, and buttons galore!

Faults:

Front struts were replaced when I bought the car.

New tires were put on.

New water pump.

Replaced the front seats (same seats from a different year Trofeo) as they were worn very badly.

Replaced a few interior parts.

Replaced the entire air conditioning system.

The engine started knocking terribly at about 125,000 miles so I had that and the transmission replaced at about a cost of about 3,000 dollars.

Door speakers were blown, replaced them with speakers from a totaled Trofeo.

General Comments:

The person I bought this car from didn't really take good care of it. The outside was simply wonderful. The interior was good (except the front seats). Under the hood was OK. Surprisingly, the engine threw a rod. The person it was purchased from though, ran straight 40 weight oil in it! No wonder it went. I love my Trofeo... I wouldn't trade it for the world.

The performance isn't too bad, I wish it were a V8; then I could smoke those riced up Hondas. It doesn't do too bad, I've smoked a few people.

The handling on this car is off the wall! I have never had a car that handles this well. Owning this car has been a pure joy. Even though for how much money I have put into it, I could've had a newer car... I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Trofeo, what a GREAT ride!

Needed added utility, so traded my flawless 89 Toronado Trofeo for a 92 Dodge Caravan!

Miss all the bells & whistles the Trofeo had (like 2 telephones, etc). The video screen did a lot more than just work the telephone!

Sad they quit making them, they were the best built & designed cars Olds ever made, decades AHEAD of other cars with many bells & whistles.

The ride was so SMOOTH, I'd go from San Diego to Salt Lake or Grand Junction in one long, smooth ride, without ending up with a back ache or long ride brain drain!
