Faults:

The steering pressure hose needed to be replaced.

Brakes pads needed to be replaced, and we replaced the rotors while we were there.

The transmission was leaking very badly when I bought the car; it just needed a seal replaced.

Seats are starting to wear badly.

General Comments:

This car has been a great car for me, starts in the coldest winters.

Goes through the snow with no problem, even when 4 wheel drives get stuck.

She is ugly, but is still running and all the repairs have been easy, cheap fixes.

Faults:

My Faults in general.

1) One time when I changed the oil, the gasket did not come off with the oil filter, thus running it out of oil in less than 10 seconds. No damage was done.

2) Don't wash your car with a hose higher then 1,500 PSI. This year and model have had its trouble with the paint.

3) The power-steering pump went out at 168,000 at my own fault.

4) The dipstick for the power-steering fluid broke and started to rattle.

General Comments:

This car is the best car in the world! No kidding. If you want a real good car look into an older Acclaim. This was my first car, and even after I can afford a new car I will not give this car up. This car is very reliable. I have never been stuck on the side of the road. This car will get you anywhere you need to get. While some people frown on its styling, I really like it. It's simple and I like it simple. Also the gas mileage is awesome. I get about 42 MPG On the Hwy. Can't figure out why, but I am not complaining. This car is a good car in the snow. Although it does not have ABS it will come to a stop when you need it too. Over all I can't say enough good stuff about it.

Faults:

The brakes have always been soft, but have worn down very soon after I came into possession. The brakes are just bad all around.

The oil filter gets clogged very frequently.

The turn signal handle is very loose and has always been that way.

The engine is extremely loud, but the mechanic I take it to can't find anything wrong.

The engine light has gone off twice; when I took it in to the mechanic he said it was a faulty mechanism.

The heater doesn't work very well.

The automatic gear shifter is hard to get into reverse, and when in drive it is very easy to accidentally knock into neutral. If I were to try to change the radio and bumped the gear shift, it could quite possibly shift.

The hood is VERY difficult to open. It takes much effort and strength to pry open.

The gas door lever is also annoying. One has to lift it up to open the gas door, and then press the lever back down or else the door won't close. I have forgotten to press it back down, and the gas attendant (I live in Oregon where there is no self-serve) has to cram it closed. The door has broken numerous times and I have had to take my car key and pry it open.

It is difficult to get the right headlight in and out because the battery sits right behind it. The left light breaks frequently because I is equally difficult to screw it in all the way, and when driving the light bounces around and occasionally breaks so I have to replace it.

General Comments:

The seats are uncomfortably low in relation to the steering wheel, however the seats are comfortable.

It is slow to accelerate, but once at speed it goes smoothly.

The brakes are very soft and it takes effort to brake it. Once completely stopped it will still sometimes creep forward.

The radio works fine.

The clock works and is simple to fix the time.

It very rarely stalls.
