1992 Plymouth Acclaim 3.0L V6 fuel injected
Summary:
A beast
Faults:
First week I had it the upper radiator hose blew. Luckily I had a roll of duct tape to patch it to get home.
Idled rough and had delay accelerating... replaced spark plugs, wires, distibutor cap and rotor. All of these were original parts that had not been changed because the owner didn't know how to take care of a car. The plugs looked were so covered in carbon build up you could not see the electrodes and they were bridged severely.
My throttle got stuck and would not idle at normal speed, I couldn't figure it out. My new Fram air filter got shredded and stuck in my throttle body, so I replaced that with a cloth K&N filter.
The passenger seat was broken and could not recline or move forward or back. For awhile I held it up with a Nalgalene bottle, but finally found the bolt and put it back. It still falls out sometimes and the seat will fall back into the person riding in the back.
The trunk latch broke and the trunk opened at about 80 on the highway. I looked back in my mirror and all I saw was gray.
The muffler fell off when I was accelerating and I just never fixed it. It sounded like I had an exhaust system and I got better gas mileage due to the reduced back pressure.
The shocks are shot and will bottom out on a hill on the highway if I have more than one person in the vehicle.
The transmission fluid gasket blew while parked and I had to fix that.
The window cranks broke.
The heater only works once you get where you are going.
The axle snapped while accelerating on a straight away. Ended up snapping the motor mounts on the car, bending the steering arm and pushing the motor into steering block. Est. cost is two grand so she's dead now.
General Comments:
Steering was tight and held the curves well.
Accelerated well for being an old family car.
Good gas mileage if driven nice.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have to say, I love your review! I'm a huge fan of these cars. You're right, they are "under the radar" and have a great "value factor". It makes me sad they discontinued this era of Chrysler cars. They were a fantastic value and super reliable. I sure wish Chrysler would resurrect them!
