Faults:

Not a whole lot has gone wrong with this car. Other than the deer that I hit, the few problems turned out to be expensive.

My gas tank rotten away, turning my car into a bomb on wheels. That was about $900 to fix.

My pads and rotors were scrap, although the dealer swore they were all new. About $400 for that.

The cable controlling my air conditioner slider broke, and that was about $100. I should have fixed that myself.

General Comments:

I really like the way the car handles overall. It's very easy to maneuver.

As for the speed, it's fairly quick for a box with wheels. By my watch, it did 0-60 in nine seconds flat. It'll also max out at 120 mph, with no problems.

A very smooth ride, and very good for a first car.

The only things I don't like about it are the lack of mods for it, adding a decent sound system was a royal pain, it's not a good looking car.

I have nothing against Chrysler vehicles, but I won't be returning to their dealers till I can afford the insurance on a Stratus RT.

Meanwhile, I plan on buying a '90 Lincoln Mark VII.

Faults:

The first repair needed was replacing the alternator at 100,000 miles.

Then the radiator stopped working at 120,000 miles.

The next repair needed was the replacement of the head due to a small crack at 160,000 miles.

Last to go were the front and rear shocks at 180,000 miles.

General Comments:

My 1992 Plymouth Acclaim was a very comfortable and reliable car. Most importantly, it was very cheap to own. I bought the car when it was 2 years old and had 40,000 miles on it. I was able to drive it for an additional 60,000 miles before the car needed any repairs. After 100,000 miles, this and that began to go on it. Most of the repairs made were quite inexpensive. Most costing $200 or less. Another inexpensive aspect of this car was the insurance costs. Compared to my 1988 Toyota Camry, the insurance was cheap! Not to mention my Acclaim was a better car overall!

The interior was incredible well built! No interior pieces ever broke or fell off. Even after 182,000 miles of driving, the upholstery showed very little wear and tear and this car was not babied! All electronic accessories always worked without ever a problem.

I loved my Acclaim because it wasn't a very big car, which made it easy to park and drive in city traffic, yet it was very roomy on the inside. It literally had more leg room that most full-size cars, especially for rear-seat passengers.

Now the things I hated about the car. It was a very un-stylish looking car. Quite boxy infact, especially on the inside! The 4-cylinder engine was severely over-taxed by the cars weight. Passing power was non-existent, except for on the highway. I've heard the available V-6 engine is a much more powerful engine in this car though. The front split-bench seating was too soft on my bum and felt like I was sinking to the floor whenever I sat down. The seats up front did have very good lumbar back support though. I once drove the car from Georgia to New York in one day without any major back cramps. Oh, and the light blue metallic paint was a serious defect on Chrysler's part. After a few years of owning the car, the paint started to flake and peel off, showing the ugly primer underneath. This was obviously a defective color on Chrysler made vehicles.
