Faults:

Battery had to be replaced at approximately 99,000 miles.

General Comments:

This is a very dependable car. I have not had any problems with it other than what was just mentioned above. Plus, it's loaded with cool features - air conditioner, heater, tilt, cruise control, folding back seat, huge trunk, et cetera... the car is only a mid-size sedan, but the interior has quite a surprising amount of room. It has great fuel economy, too.

Faults:

Bought this car February 3, 2006. 2 weeks after I bought it, I had to replace front brakes and rotors (grinding noise).

3 months later, I replaced the driver side front wheel bearing.

6 months after purchase timing belt broke on the highway. Towing fees, and fixing the vehicle cost $1525.77, so expensive because valves bent in the engine when timing belt snapped.

General Comments:

Drives nice, good on gas, but would never buy this vehicle again.

Faults:

The weak four cylinder engine struggled to climb the tall hills where I live and often tried to overheat, especially during its last days.

Had to replace the alternator at 195,000.

Engine had been replaced a year before I purchased the car. The 2.0 liter engine had only 16,000 miles on it when I purchased it.

The driver's seat had a tear in it.

The seat adjustment knob on the side of the driver's seat broke off.

The vehicle caught fire (under the hood) after a 50 mile drive one day after I had gone into the house. The vehicle was a total (though not a great) loss. Cause of fire unknown.

General Comments:

The car handled fairly well, was very comfortable, and attractive. The controls were user friendly and the seats held up well for a car with 200K miles on it.

The engine was weak, even though it was a replacement engine with only 16K miles on it. It didn't like big hills and the automatic transmission was continuously down-shifting to attempt to pull the grades. Fuel economy was only around 24 miles per gallon, a miserable output for a tiny four cyllinder.

The car often tried to overheat and had a lot of engine knock when it got hot.

After the fire that mercifully claimed its life, no salvage yards were interested in purchasing the remains. They all said that the Plymouth Breeze/Dodge Stratus had been having engine problems and that there was no demand for the body parts, since nobody was repairing their cars. We had to give the body away to get it out of the driveway.

General Comments:

I bought my breeze in 2002 from a used car dealer with 100000 kilometers on it. This is the third year of my ownership. Before I bought it I heard a lot of negative comments and visited this page. However, I listened my heart and purchased. (I liked the body shape and the color)

After 3 years of ownership, I can say that this is a great car. It never gave me any problem, always started at first attempt in any weather condition. 2.4 Liter is really responsive and I feel confortable at high speeds.

I drive it gently and carefully keep the regular maintenance: Oil change every 3500-4000km, transmission service every 30000km, plus other things like oilspraying, washing.
