1998 Plymouth Breeze 2.0L

Summary:

This car is trouble

Faults:

The head-gasket blew at 39400 miles.

The heater core also blew causing lots of oil and antifreeze plus water to saturate my floorboard.

Warranty was worthless.

Front end noises.

General Comments:

I am not happy with this car, my 1992 Chevy Cavalier was better than this car.

I just bought this car in July.

1998 Plymouth Breeze Expresso 2.4

Summary:

A car that makes you smile with pride!

Faults:

Nothing! =)

General Comments:

We had heard that the earlier model year Breezes had problems with head gaskets & what not due to 2.0 liters, but at the end of 1997 & start of 1998 they improved the engines with 2.4 liters.

Our Expresso is like owning an expensive luxury car. Its looks are sleak & stylish, almost looks like a Stratus. The interior always puts a smile on our face. Its fabric has designs matching the Deep Slate Pearl finish with colored pebbled stones look. The seats make you want to go on a long trip! We test drove a Honda before a purchase & on a scale of 1 to 10 the Honda rated a 5'ish compared to the look & comfort of the Breeze.

The gas mileage is a charm, the smooth ride is a dream, the stereo system is sweet. It has neat lil features such as; adjustable seat belt height, automatic locks when you hit a certain pre-determined speed, a center fold down for extra storage, with the ability to lock. A remote trunk lid which also has a lock option. A center light dimmer, digital dash, low gas warning, lights on warning. A/C heat, premium sound & wheels, radio & cassette, ABS, DOHC, 2.4 automatic, power doors, windows, cruise, airbags, child safety locks, built in dual cup holder, center console with coin holder. Detail stripe, semi-spoiler, sporty side mirrors & hub-caps. Low sitting trunk with LOTS of storage space. A lot of options for later install!!

I wish you were right about the head gasket problem being fixed, but that was not the case. My 1998 model, purchased toward the end of 1998, had to have the head gasket replaced. The car leaked about 3 quarts of oil in 5 days. There is also very poor pickup and lugging into gears hard. The car makes some very unsettling noises when first starting up. Almost sounds like it's about to cough up a lung. The dealer service dept. found nothing wrong with it.
