1999 Plymouth Breeze Base 2.0

Summary:

Reliable

Faults:

Rear main started leaking at 180,000. Replaced at dealership.

Replaced heater core at 179,000 miles. Replaced at home.

Some kind of coil is leaking in the dash, still smells like anti-freeze when the heat is on. Need to replace at some point.

General Comments:

The 2.0 engine is slightly underpowered for the size of the vehicle.

Transmission is jerky in stop and go traffic, but no other complaints.

Cabin is roomy, however the seats get somewhat uncomfortable on long road trips.

Brakes are undersized for weight of vehicle.

Spacious trunk.

Can fit three comfortably in the backseat.

Great fuel economy, averaging about 350-400 miles per tank.

This is the original motor and transmission in the car; the only things that have been replaced were the shocks, springs and tires. The dealership I bought the car from closed due to the economy, and I have since switched to another. Both of the dealerships have been very friendly and quick.

Sheet metal is starting pop near the doors, but nothing major.

Not spectacular, but reliable

Faults:

Heater slow to warm.

Prone to act up as an oil change approaches.

General Comments:

Good acceleration for a small engine and large body.

Good cabin room.

Hell of a speaker system.

1999 Plymouth Breeze 2.0

Faults:

Boiling water at times does not mark hot.

No fire to plugs.

Hesitates on acceleration and at deceleration from 50mph.

Water pump changed, fixed boiling water problem.

Oil will break down protective plastic coating on crank or cam shaft position sensor wires, causing a short (no fire). Separate wires and tape individually.

Still stumped on the acceleration problem.

General Comments:

Overall a good car.

Still running.

Summary:

Great car

Faults:

Nothing wrong with the car. I just have changed a speed sensor at 70.000 miles, and belt at 60.000 miles.

Overall a very dependable car. I am happy.

General Comments:

Great car. Best of all, I changed the original Michelin tires at ? > 55.000 miles, not because they're bad, but because they're 6 year old tires.

One time I did not check the pressure on the tires for 1 year, and I checked again, all 4 are: 30 psi like last year. Great car, and I'm still driving it.

1999 Plymouth Breeze

Not worth putting money into

Faults:

I have a 99 Plymouth Breeze. I have had many problems with this car.

I had to get a new transmission and a new engine.

I have had the brakes and tires done numerous times in the past few years.

Both of my back doors will not open from the inside.

My check engine light came on a few months ago. I took it to get looked at and they said that it was nothing major.

I am leaking oil or something from my front right side near my tire. I hope that it is nothing major like a head gasket that everyone is talking about. I don't think I want to put anymore money into this car.

I also have had a problem with my turn signals they will stick if I have them on longer than a minute.

My front seat is broke. I cannot move it forward or back.

I have also changed the bulbs in my head and rear lights numerous times. It seems that they go out at least every two months.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

Did you check the child locks on your back doors? If they're on, then obviously your back doors won't open from the inside. It sounds to me that you have little understanding of how anything in your own car works. If you have replaced this many things by the way, you should have scrapped the vehicle a long time ago anyways.

The oil leaking by your tire may be your crankshaft sensor. Mine just happened like that, so if you still have the car, try changing that.
