1991 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE
Summary:
Unreliable, tranny and motor problems 100k
Faults:
Transmission seals started leaking right after we got it. Took it back to used car dealer (nice guy) and he fixed it at 117,000 miles cost of repairs $500.
Threw a rod into the oil pan on the freeway and motor had to be rebuilt so we traded it for a Ford Aerostar at 118,000 miles.
General Comments:
I would never buy another Plymouth Grand Voyager minivan again. We only owned it for a few weeks and had problems with the transmission AND the motor at 117,000 miles.
The only good thing I have to say about it is that it was very roomy.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I have purchased a used 91 Grand voyager, but after 3 months of driving it, it seemed to start falling apart. The brake pads needed replacing, it wasn't driving properly anymore, I financed it from a used car dealer, but the guy won't seem to do anything about it.

Brake pads just need to be replaced as a normal part of driving a car, so they're not necessarily a sign that the car is falling apart. It's a fairly inexpensive part of routine maintenance. The car may not be driving right (not sure what you mean by that) if the rotors are warped. They should be turned (i.e. ground down to make a smooth surface at a machine shop) at the same time you replace the brakes. Turning rotors costs about $8 each, and a set (1 set for both front wheels) of brake pads costs $20 to $30, typically.

I just purchased this van for $325 with 107000 miles. The transmission doesn't work in 3rd gear and the brakes are a little sloppy. Guess I'll just change the oil, check the brakes, drive in the drive setting and wait to see if she grows on me before I consider extensive repairs. Thank you for the reviews of potential problems.
