Would be a good car with a better transmission
Transmission failed around 66000. This was the 3rd Chrysler van to do this to me. No more.
Handled well in all situations.
Comfort level better than expected for a van.
Generally held up well in all areas other than the tranny.

We love this van and we have many fond memories of trips taken together.
Replacing the air conditioning evaporator core has been the most difficult and expensive repair. Otherwise, we have only paid for standard maintenance which has been very reasonable due in part to the fact it is an American vehicle.
Our Grand Voyager is a high top version that we bought used, but in excellent condition. It has been perfect for the us and the kids due to the spacious & comfortable interior. It came equipped with a TV, radio/cassette and head sets.
The engine and chassis had nearly 110,000 miles when we purchased it and the transmission had recently been rebuilt. The engine now has 176,000 miles on it and it does NOT burn any oil. It runs smooth and strong enough to reliably transport our whole family of six. The transmission leaks fluid, but has not given us any problems.
The drivers seat back rest is uncomfortable on long trips.
We love this van. It has been reliable and we have many fond memories of trips taken together. We would purchase another one.

One great performance vehicle that can carry a load and still perform
The transmission was leaking by the rear seal when I first bought the van with 164,000+ miles. I continued to use the van maintaining the transmission fluid level. I eventually replaced the transmission at approximately 215,000. The heater core needs to be replaced, but it works after it's annual flush. The only other things that needed to be replaced was the starter, oil, fuel pump, brake pads and shoes, battery, and now the body is starting to rot, and the sliding door falls off it's track.
The moter is original and handles like it just came off the showroom floor.
Put a couple of heavy duty roof racks on the gutters, take the seats out and lay a sheet of ply on the floor (not exactly 8') and you have a work van.
Boy can it handle a load.
It handles great in all weather.

Depressing
Front pads go about 12,000 to 15,000 miles.
Transmission has gone out twice now.
1st time three weeks after we bought it (dealer took care of it). Now it's gone again.
Went with the 3.8l push rod motor over the over-head cam motors for reliability. Manufacturer used that transmission for two years only and only one fits the 3.8l (very sad in deed).
Maybe after I make the last 4 payments we'll be able to get rid of it.

An OK minivan - so far so good
The rear windshield wiper motor stopped working.
When I first bought the van, I found out that the air conditioning stopped working. This year, I got the air conditioning working and a new condenser for the air conditioner, but after two weeks, the air stopped working again.
The control for the power mirrors to make the mirror move right is stuck.
My stereo stopped working at 96,000 miles.
I had transmission problems at 75,000 miles.
My air compressor started making a burning smell a couple of times.
Every time that I carry 7 people (the van's seating total) in my Plymouth, every time that I hit a bump, the rear end of the van scrapes the ground while the van is moving.
This minivan has a lot of cargo room.
This minivan is just about mostly reliable, despite some of the problems that I've had with it.

I'm 68 yrs old; drove millions of miles in dozens of cars since 1954;--yet I can truthfully say that my 1994 3.8L Grand Voyager is close to the best overall vehicle I've ever owned.
I put 194,000 on it since new, yet had very, very few problems. And, because parts are cheap, I spent very little on repairs over its 12+ years (1 trans in warranty, 1 exhaust system, 2 sets shocks/struts, motor mounts + the usual brakes/bearings/tie rod ends/lights/hoses/etc).--BUT it's treated right with full synthetic oil & isn't run as hard as cars I had when I was a kid.
What I love about it is that it runs like a top, never "burns a drop" of oil, still AVERAGES 23+ miles/gal/mo, hauls 18,000# of equipment at times, rides & handles great (for an old minivan),goes almost anywhere in snow here in the mountains of N.E. Pennsylvania, and the body is rust free.
