1988 Plymouth Horizon Limited Edition 2.2

Summary:

This car is bullet-proof

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

My Father bought this car new for the purpose of commuting back and forth to work (about 90 miles per day round trip).

After about a year, he did not need it anymore, and sold it to me, being I had just got my drivers license in 1989. I was 16 years old. I had this car for 15 years!!!... I used it to commute for almost 10 years back and forth to work (100 miles per day). I never had a problem with it.

I took very good care of this car... regular oil changes and car washes, and that's all it needed.

I did have to replace the clutch after 215,000 miles. It cost me about 400 dollars, but I got another 150,000 miles out of the car.

During the time I owned it, I still had other cars. My Horizon was just a commuter.

After I bought my house, I had a 2 car garage, and that's where the car stayed for quite some time.

Near the end of its time, it was used as a work horse for things I needed dumped, and to throw things in to transport, because I did not want to ruin my Caddy. My nephew asked me if he could have it after he passed his road test. I did not have the heart to give it to him. I really did not want him to get laughed at by all his high school buddies... so I donated it to charity and gave him 2000 dollars towards a used vehicle. In the end, the old Horizon never ever let me down.

General Comments:

Everything on this car is functional including the rear windshield defogger and rear washer and wiper.

This car is seriously quick.

This car is very reliable.

This car has great cargo carrying capacity.

However the drivers and passenger side windows are difficult to raise if the window is completely lowered, as the result of the front doors worn regulators.

The upholstery great and has no rips or tears.

However the driver's side carpet is worn.

Within the past 3000 miles, when the car is in gear and idling at a complete stop, there is a pronounced vibration that shakes the entire car and rattles the windows, but otherwise smooth when accelerating or running in traffic.

1988 Plymouth Horizon

Summary:

It is a great car to have in this day and time

Faults:

It has had just a little rust problems, but other than that it has been a reliable car.

General Comments:

This car is very good on gas mileage. It feels like I can fill up the tank and just drive forever.

Also, this is a very compact car, which makes it very easy to handle. It turns quick and handles well.

I had a 1986 Horizon and it was a piece of junk. It left me stranded every other day for some reason or another. I was glad to see it go since no one could fix the hellish carb problems that it had.
