1995 Plymouth Neon Sport 2.0L SOHC
Summary:
Not the perfect car, but an excellent choice for your first car
Faults:
Head gasket blew at 80,000 miles.
Power steering rack began to leak at 80,000 miles.
General Comments:
It's really not that bad. After I fixed the head gasket and power steering rack, the car has been fine. It runs pretty well and never hesitates to start.
It has a lot of acceleration for only 130 BHP; it easily makes it from 0-60 in about 10 seconds, which doesn't sound impressive, but it is for a 14-year old car with 80,000 miles.
Its handling is decent, but it does have quite a bit of understeer, odd for a front-wheel-drive car. I was surprised at how sure-footed it is in the snow. It never had any trouble going through 6 inches of snow on a twisty backroad, and that was with sport tires. It's no Subaru, but it handles a New England winter with the best of them.
Overall, I'm very happy with it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Update:
At 83,500 miles now. Have now replaced the power steering rack and tie rod ends. My alternator bearing has begun to squeak and I suspect I'll have to replace that soon. A/C compressor has just recently begun to leak compressor oil, we most like have to replace that soon as well. Just today the line connecting the fuel filter to the main gas line broke, leaking about 6 gallons of gas all over my driveway, and rendering my car useless until I was able to get to the autoparts store with the car I borrowed from my grandmother. Replaced the filter, is now working fine again. Overall, have become less happy with this car. Will keep it for the remainder of highschool, then I will sell it and buy a newer car for college. Most likely a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.
