Faults:

Basic Problems had to replace the cam shaft seal, that ran about 5 dollars. A hose on my goose neck. And a radiator. That's it!

General Comments:

Great car. It is very reliable and easy to fix most of the problems, because of the very simple engine design.

Faults:

Just a brake line and a thermostat in the four years I've owned it.

General Comments:

The name says it all! Reliant is a really reliable car! I bought this car for 100 bucks, and it's never let me down. Starts up every morning, even when it is -20 out. The interior is nice and comfortable. The paint needs some attention (planning to repaint it soon). The 2.2L Fuel injected engine and 3-speed automatic is a great combination. This car is much better than my oil burning 1984 Buick Century. Im planning on getting another Reliant for my wife!

Faults:

Everything: brake lines, and 4 engines in 3 cars.

General Comments:

I previously was in love with the Plymouth Reliant K-cars, but now I hate everything about them.

The only thing I gained, was complete knowledge on how to work on all Chrysler 2.2's, inside out.

I have had the worst experience ever with this type of car. Without exaggeration, 3 cars and 4 engines later, I despise it.

Other people say they are great or they are tanks, but I have had the worst luck with them.

I blew up the first K car on the road 1 mile away from home, and barely got it there.

The 2nd one was my fault. K cars are not off road racers by no means, even if Budweiser told you so. LOL a hole in the oil pan did that one in when I was far from home.

Well while I was going through those 2 cars, my mom bought one by chance, and that car ran great for a while, until she felt bad for me and gave me her K car; my 3rd and final K car. Big mistake. I did learn my lesson and babied the car, but... it hated me. Seriously the 3rd was not a charm; I had it a week and the head gasket went without warning (still driving like a grandma, not beating it). No big deal, I changed it with no problems, but so much antifreeze mixed with the oil, that even with an oil change, the engine blew. So I felt like changing it and did.

Well it ran good for a month, until 3 brake lines went, the alternator, starter, fuel lines, deer accident, brand new flat tire, thermostat, exhaust, and finally a new knocking engine. All in 500 miles!!!

I learned one thing from this whole thing, that I need to pass on to all K-car drivers... After 120000 miles, if one thing goes, expect many many more problems. I mean this goes beyond normal maintenance.

Faults:

97000 - Head cracked

98000 - Front brakes collapsed.

General Comments:

Nothing was wrong with the car when I got it. I payed the person $600 for it and soon after I got it it overheated. I didn't have the money to pay for a new head at the time, so I jsut drove it into the ground. Every hose in the engine needed to be replaced and the head cracked in 4 places when I finally took it in about 100 miles after the first overheat. Then the front brakes collapsed on themselves and cost me another 600 on top of the 600 I payed for the new head and hoses. This car cost me some money, but it's a tank. It still gets good gas mileage and smokes my friends 2002 Nissan Sentra in a race.
