1994 Plymouth Sundance
Summary:
A low maintenance reliable little car!
Faults:
Several oxygen sensors.
Wiring problems.
Needed a new alternator at 115,000 miles, it took the computer with it.
Several belt replacements, and adjustments.
Paint is chipping off.
Interior problems: Locks seem to be lose, rear passenger side door doesn't like to open from the inside.
General Comments:
I have owned this car for eight years. In those eight years I have probably only put in about $1,500 worth of work, beyond the general maintince; oil changes, tires, etc. I have never down any real major work, beyond replacing the alternator and computer. The engine is very quite now that I have had belt work done. It is still running on its' first engine, and transmission. The oxygen sensor seems to wear out quickly though, gone through several 02 sensors. It's suspension system isn't very good, but it is a small old car. It seems like a bargain after my 1997 Sunfire, which had to have to engine job's down, and a whole series of other things down to it. Chrysler built a very good car. I think they stopped production because the Sundance/Shadow's were too reliable, and they didn't need to be replaced and repaired a whole lot. I also own an 1988 Shadow, which has only minor problems.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

My sister bought a 1994 Sundance from the dealer down the street about 8 years ago. This car survived her, but not myself. Baby, as I called her, was struck on the driver's side door by a drunk driver. My sister was almost killed, the car, on the other hand, still ran great! YOU COULDN'T KILL HER!
When I turned 17 and needed a car, I bought the car off her. I had that car for 3 glorious years. The only issues I ever had with her, was when the first and only time that car left any of us stranded, and the timing belt broke.
When I got into my first year of college, baby needed a whole new cooling system, and then it was a head gasket. I was still going to sell her to my friend so I could still drive her, but then I found that there was a fuel line leak. This was all mostly due to the fact that she was in NY, and NY kills cars... well the salt does. If it wasn't for the salt, and that leak, I would still be driving that car.
I would take that car any day, she was my life, and always will be. I miss that car, and I hope anyone that has a Sundance cherishes her and knows how great a car they are!

1989 Dodge Shadow
I purchased it brand new in 1988. The motor finally died in the fall of 2003.
Highlites of service.
1989 - Recall of rocker valve cover gaskets leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold.
1989 - numereous shakes and shimies
1991 - Major engine knock (78,000 KM) 2.5 Litre
1991 - New lower engine block supplied by Dodge under warranty
1995 - Engine overheating - New head gasket - Dealer advised new engine head claiming warped engine head replace - I refused and still drove the car for 288000 KM.
