1991 Pontiac 6000 LE 2.5 Liter EFI L4 Tech IV
Summary:
Runs great wish I could wash it
Faults:
The air compressor locked up this was easily fixed by Changing the serpentine.
I have had to have most of the sensors replaced in order to comply with emission laws.
It seems to Stall out in car washes or large puddles, I am not sure why yet. I replaced the starter coil pack and ran a couple of basic checks... anyone?
General Comments:
This has been a nice car and I have taken it on many a long trip.
It still runs well save in heavy rain it is wise to pull off (due to stalling?).
The inside is very bright and my model came with a sliding floor pack thing for change and drinks (i guess that is rare).
It is front wheel drive and you can tell.
The body has no rust, but I just moved to Chicago so I'm sure that'll Change.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

My car did the same thing.turned out to be the wiring harness for the gas tank. look for rotten wires at the connector.

Hey, my 1991 Pontiac had the same oil leak problem. Now I need a new sensor as well, but also my hood latch wire snapped and now I can't get my hood open. Any ideas on how I might open it?

I had a station wagon and loved that people hauler!! Mine leaked oil for years, not much, just always needed topping up between oil changes. Finally got some info off the web, and discovered the old dist hole has a seal worth 25 cents, and after 150.000 miles, they need to be changed. It also drives the oil pump!! I got a manual and changed it myself (sat mechanic); stopped leaking, never had to top up again!!

Hi,
I had a problem with my 6000LE (2.8L v6) stalling as well, but in random conditions. The cause of my stalling was the Crankshaft Sensor. With my car, oil was leaking into the chamber where the Crankshaft Sensor is located and getting soaked in oil. Eventually, the sensor wasn't able to function due to the oil and it cut the engine.
If your car is leaking oil, you may have the same problem. If so, the Crankshaft Sensor is located between the firewall and the engine (in the 2.8L v6). You need to get under the car (you won't be able to access from the top/through the hood), reach up between the firewall, unclip the wiring, unscrew the crank sensor and replace. I think it's a 10mm or 15mm wrench and it's a very tight space so be patient. I replaced with a Bosch sensor and it has not stalled since. Hope it helps.
Does anyone know how to get more power out of the 2.8L engine?
