2001 Pontiac Aztek GT
Summary:
Don't judge a book by its cover
Faults:
Nothing. Nothing at all. It's a perfect car. But it looks kind of funny.
General Comments:
I bought the Aztek in 2000 because I was on a budget and I really needed a vehicle. I said I needed a cheap, reliable vehicle that runs. He asked if looks matter. He says "Do I have the car for you". We are walking past all these sweet looking vehicles. Then we come to the Aztek. It's a boxy, square looking car with gray things on the bottom. Actually very ugly. I look at the dealer. You're joking, right? Take a drive. I get in. The seats are extremely comfortable, and its really computerized. I start it up. It purrs like a kitten. Not literally of course. I drive it around the city. I go back.
I bought it. At 15,995 it was a real bargain. I have had it for nearly 2 years now and it still drives the same as it did when I first got it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I know it's 2008 and a 01 is out of date, but I'm glad I read your post. After reading the other ones that had all the problems, I got nerves. I just bought a 2001 Pontiac Aztek and had the same feelings you did. We took it for a test drive and loved it. There are some things wrong with it, but it's under warranty so they will be fixed for free. Your post made me feel a lot better thanks.

I agree! I was looking for a SUV and was on a budget. I shopped all over looking for something at a reasonable price, but not too old and used. When the sales man said to me "I just got this thing in, its kind of ugly." He walked my family and I over to this dirty taupe and pewter thing with Louisiana plates on it. I thought she was original and some what fancy in her own way. I wanted to take it for a test drive, my husband wanted to leave and call it a night. Well, like most women I got my way and as soon as we sat in her wonderful leather seats and turned her over, I was in love and knew she belonged to me. We didn't need to drive far before we had agreed that we wanted it (and to start fighting over who gets to drive next!) We went back to the dealership and told the salesman we needed to think about it. (what a lie!) Leaving to go home was so hard! The next morning we went back and got her, now no matter what, if anything does ever happen to her or if she ever gives me any trouble, I will keep her! I love my 2001 Aztek. I think all anyone needs to do is test drive one, and you will fall in love too. Of course, I don't want anyone else to buy one, I like being original.
