1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8 liter V6

Summary:

This car is a tremendous bargain for strong performance and economic use

Faults:

I had to replace the alternator at about 125,000 miles.

I replaced the throttle sensor control at 145,000 miles.

I have put a new water pump on at 156,000 miles.

The radio volume control button stuck at 130,000 miles, so I put a new aftermarket radio into the car.

Just before I bought the car the previous owners put a brand new transmission in at 92,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car for its size is very quick because of its strong V6.

I am 6'-6" tall, and this car is incredibly comfortable with its roomy interior and great headroom with the power seats. FINALLY I can be comfortable in a car!

I think the styling of the car is beautiful and racy with the spoilers and its great design.

I like the dark royal blue paint, which has held up incredibly well to have only been waxed one good time since I bought it.

The seats are starting to wear a little, but they are still looking good.

For such a good peppy engine this car is extremely economical (23 normal mpg, 28 on the highway).

1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8

Summary:

Everything that you could ever want in a car

Faults:

Passenger side window stops working from time to time. Although it has always worked from the drivers side controls. I'm sure with a good cleaning it would work just fine.

General Comments:

This car has worked and performed flawlessly.

It handles great, with tons of power and torque ready for you at the tap of the pedal.

What more could you want, loads of power, tons of comfort, and million dollar looks. Cool enough for cruising on Friday night, respectable enough to go to church on Sunday, and enough comfort to keep everyone happy on long trips.

The ultimate car!

1993 Pontiac Bonneville SSE 3.8 V6

Summary:

A decent touring car that can carry the family, the golf clubs and do it in reasonable style

Faults:

Replaced A/C system @ 140K, upgraded to R134A and Replaced Transmission @ 155K.

General Comments:

This is really an awesome automobile considering what it is. It is not an exotic in any way, but holds it's own in terms of performance, reliability and comfort. This car has a surprising amount of performance. Acceleration and handling are very decent for a large car, braking is not too exciting, expect lots of nose-dive and longer stop times. The interior features tons of storage room and the seats are fantastic. My wife's car is a 1997 Seville STS and I really prefer the SSE for overall comfort. The OEM Stereo system is surprisingly great. I feel safe and comfortable while driving this car. It cruises happily at 90 MPH and will top out at considerably higher. Also, at reasonable highway speeds I get close to 30 MPG.

The evaluation should be written in a professional format such as used by automobile magazines, including using their performance ratings and standards. This would add credence to your site and to the individual evaluations. Patrons to this site may want professional advice and comments rather than those that could be gathered by their neighbors.

Well, actually, I don't want a bunch of ratings like in a magazine. I want a community survey-find out overall how well the car has done for the average person. You can't get nearly enough "neighbors" together to begin to get the overall opinion of drivers in America that you do on this website.

1993 Pontiac Bonneville SSE 3.8L 200 hp

Summary:

Great car, interior problems though

Faults:

I have the worst interior problems! The steering wheel's radio controls stopped working, the padding on the interior roof is puffing up, the vanity mirrors don't all the way light up, the instrument cluster light (when you put on headlights) doesn't work when you adjust it, feels dirty when sitting in the seats.

General Comments:

I got this car from my uncle and I thought he gave me a deal, and it was... It has been reliable because it snows heavily and my Pontiac started and my neigbour's 2002 Honda Accord wouldn't start and there was no road side assistence, so she was stuck all day trying to figure out what to do. If I knew about it I would have jump started the car.

The interior sucks, it falls and TOO MUCH PLASTIC!!!

Did you get the wheel controls to work, and if you did how?
