Faults:

Lots of little things have gone wrong with this car. FIrst, I had to replace a part because the windshield wipers stopped working. The motor would work but they did not move.

Second, I had to replace a brake line.

I also had to replace a tie rod.

I also had to replace the starter.

I also had to have a heatshield taken out by the muffler because it was loose.

I had to have a gas leak fixed. The mechanic fixed the gas leak by bypassing it by putting on some cheaper part. If the mechanic did not do that, I would have paid more.

The compartment in the middle that holds things would never stay shut. I never fixed it, but it was annoying.

Also the automatic locks would not work right in the winter. I always had to push the lock to open the door.

Besides these things listed, lots of other little things also went wrong.

I made an appointment to get the muffler fixed. When the mechanic put the car in the shop, a brake line went. The mechanic told me it was going to be either a cheap or expensive fix. Also the gas tank was leaking, so I could only fill it up half (8 gallons). I decided to sell the car after the brake line went in the shop.

General Comments:

The seats were comfortable, I could put the seat way back, power seats are sweet.

The engine was great, I could pick up speed in no time. The radio was okay, but then again the car was old. The paint on the car was great, just a little bit of rust for being so old.

I wish the mirrors were larger and the shifter was by the wheel and not on the floor.

Cupholders were terrible, I just had two cupholder, one by each door in the front.

Very difficult to check power steering fluid, always got greasy and spilled some just to fill it up. You could not check it if the car was hot, you would burn yourself.

For a first car, it was great, lots of power and features inside. The seats were very comfortable and you sank into them.

I also loved the automatic headlights, I never had to remember to turn them on or off.

Plenty of warning lights, when something was wrong you did not want to drive the car until you got it fixed.

The reason I got rid of the car was because of the gas tank and the brake lines.

Faults:

Plenum assembly/gasket started leaking.

Also the lower manifold gasket was leaking antifreeze badly.

Replaced both at a cost of a little over $1,000. Work done by a GM dealer.

General Comments:

Engine has good acceleration and cruises well on the highway.

Faults:

Transmission went out at 120,000.

Maf sensor gone at 120,000.

Idler arm out at 120,000.

Wire to fuel tank separated at 110,000.

Dies while driving or coasting, problem never found.

Burns 2 quarts of oil every 2 weeks no leaks.

Over $4000 in repair still hasn't fixed dieing.

Has a shake at 60 mph - new tires and alignment did not fix.

General Comments:

Seats sit very low, but comfortably.

Nice ride when running.

Faults:

The only thing that has gone wrong was a sticky valve.

General Comments:

I love my car. I got the Bonneville from my brother. He wasn't very kind to the car at all. We live on gravel roads, so it takes a lot of abuse! Just me I have hit huge dirt clumps on the side of the road that should have ruined some suspension parts, but nothing wrong yet. Living in Iowa we have snow, and I find it fun to spin my tires everywhere. I guess I'm just a teenage driver. The car has hit many deer (4) and hasn't had major damage any of the times. It has been ramped a few times, still running strong. I just put a new system in it, I plan to keep it for about two more years then get a 2000 something Bonneville.
