2000 Pontiac Bonneville ssei 3.8 supercharged

Summary:

Sexy, comfy, and quick

Faults:

Front wheel bearings went bad at about 90,000 miles. Front brakes.

General Comments:

This car is the ultimate in comfort to drive! I thought my grand prix was comfortable, but this car is the ultimate in driving comfort! I have to be careful on trips because it's more comfy than my recliner at home and I tend to nod off. Acceleration is very good, cornering is pretty good for a larger car. It looks sexy, it feels sexy, and it is a blast to drive. My grand prix was a maintenance nightmare so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but overall, I love it!

2000 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3.8 liter V6

Summary:

Its handling is better than I expect in a sedan this big

Faults:

Left rear window won't operate.

General Comments:

I'm pretty well satisfied with the car, though I would rather have a higher-level Bonneville like the SSEi. I find the styling less pleasing than the previous Bonneville model, but when it shines in its black finish with chrome trim, it's not too bad. I was rather desperate for a car, since I totaled my Contour and I was in the last months of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Naturally, I was in no position to buy ANY car. When this became available, I took the chance. I like the room and trunk space. The larger size took getting used to. I may try to trade it for an SSEi after a year.

2000 Pontiac Bonneville SLE 3.8

Summary:

Very Reliable

Faults:

Window Regulator in driver side rear went out.

General Comments:

This car is reliable one of the best I have ever owned in my life. Had it for 3 years and only one thing went wrong with it. I highly recommend bonnys to everyone. Very Sporty, but yet still fancy I love them.

2000 Pontiac Bonneville SLE 3.8

Summary:

Good Performance and good deal for a used car however, still undecided on reliability

Faults:

Although I bought the car used and 147000 Km. I'm seign all of the typical repair issues after only 7 months.

Outer tie rods and front wheel bearings.

Coolant leak on intake manifold. Maybe covered on my 1 year warranty. Repair yet to be performed.

Driver's side rear door window mechanism being replaced this weekend. Doing this myself. The mechanism is under-designed. Knowing that I have another three units just like it is not comforting. Replacement cost for the unit is approx $180 Canadian including motor.

Inner tie rods now need replacements. Work yet to be performed.

Transmission planetary gears require replacement. Yet to be done. Maybe covered on my drive train warranty.

General Comments:

This is a great looking car and very comfortable. Gas mileage is excellent on the hwy, but different story in town.

Hoping my repair issues will eventually taper off. This car was well maintained by the previous owner and I have no intentions of letting her go. For the money that I paid, I can afford a few repair bills, but there is a limit.

I have the same problem with my 2000 DS rear window. The motor is working fine, but the cable is real loose and the window just moves up and down manually. I am being told by the auto part stores that the entire frame that holds and operates the window will have to be replaced, but I can't find anyone that can order it. Any suggestions??

2000 Pontiac Bonneville SLE 3.8L V6

Summary:

Awesome looking, powerful, fast, comfortable, family car!!!

Faults:

The day after picking it up, the driver's rear window motor assembly went. The dealer fixed it with no problems.

Later, the load leveler went, but again the dealer fixed it under warranty - had to pay my deductible though - third party extended warranty for longer coverage.

Other than those minor problems (I do most of my own maintenance) everything has been fine.

General Comments:

Fantastic Car!!

Styling is awesome, handles great, power is fantastic, superb stereo, love the bells & whistles, especially the auto dual zone climate control.

Love those 17" Chrome Wheels!!

What a great car!!

We had a 93 Bonneville SSE that spun the main motor bearing on vacation before we bought this one. We loved it, and even tried to revive it with a used motor, but after sinking in the $$ to get it home and repaired, I had had enough.

My Mom had bought a 2002 Bonneville SE under my & my fathers recommendation, and we all liked it, so when the opportunity came up for a new car, we went looking and found our new Bonneville.

It's currently in the body shop as I was just in an accident being the meat in a Mazda - Ford bun. Winter driving - ain't it fun?

Can't wait to get her back!!!
