1984 Pontiac Fiero
Summary:
Been there, done that, had a blast!
Faults:
Throttle body carburetor was automatic choke set, and wouldn't start all the time. Sometimes it got too much gas, other times no gas.
Parts were expensive compared to my old Datsun 280ZX. A park light lens was 50.00 used. The serpentine belt was about to break and was $400.00 to replace.
The seats were very hard, and long trips were painful. I drove mine to Texas from Oregon, and after 400-450 miles you had to stop for the day, and I'm a small person. ANYONE over 5'10" had a hard time driving or riding very far at all.
General Comments:
This car DID seriously feel like you were on rails. Cornered like nothing I had ever drove before. On the way to Texas, at almost every gas or bathroom (a lot more bathroom than gas stops) people would come up and ask if it was fun to drive. My answer was "Yes it is!"
I only had it about a year, then things started going wrong, one right after another. The throttle body carburetor was right away first, then sensors one after another. The starter was next. After that the Micky Mouse stuff. Last was the belt.
I decided to sell it, and one night it was vandalized. Mirrors, lights, windshield all broken. The lights and mirrors were very expensive to replace.
On a good note, late one night before it was vandalized, I was flying down a country road in Oregon. Before I knew it, the road turned to gravel. I had just started to slow down and a BIG Buck deer ran out in front of me. I knew I'd lose it I hit it, so I swerved; Yahoo, I slid forever sideways until I saw the mail box with a big heavy pipe cemented into the ground. I corrected or really over corrected, and the car went into the ditch and flipped up on the passenger side. I got out, flipped it back down (after I was done shaking) and looked it over. NOT A SCRATCH!
I jumped in, it started right up, BUT all 4 tires were off their rims.. It WAS FUN TO DRIVE!!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Except for your unrealistic 1900 lbs. weight limit, you've just described the 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP...
