1985 Pontiac Fiero SE 2m4 2.5 liter 4 cylinder
Summary:
The Fiero is a great bargain
Faults:
I bought the car in not running condition. It turned out to be a bad piston.
I replaced the pistons, rings, connecting rods and bearings. Gave the car a complete tune up and it ran great.
However we should've resurfaced the crank because it ended up spinning a rod bearing. Now it sits in my dad's garage.
General Comments:
This was a very fun car to drive. Light, handled well and got exceptional gas mileage.
My SE had every option available, everything worked!
The WS6 suspension and the '86 GT wheels helped the car's ride significantly. It handled very well.
I paid $800 for it. And ended up putting $400 into getting it running. The verdict, when you've got the engine apart, don't cut corners. : (Keeping an eye on the oil level is key. Don't skip out on that, pay attention to the car and you will be rewarded!
Should've fixed the crank, I'd still be driving it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
