1992 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.3 gas

Summary:

Quite possibly the most bang for your buck

Faults:

Thus far, the only mechanical problems I've had have been brought about by my own stupidity for drag racing.

The Eagle GT II tires that came with it do not do a great job of gripping the road.

The turning radius could be better.

General Comments:

This is a great car for someone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money, but still wants some performance and looks that aren't out-dated.

The interior, while not the most appealing to the eye, is comfortable and is very easy for me to keep clean.

This car has a nice little V6 purr to it that I absolutely love!

I have a 92 grand am gt 2 door, it has about 122k miles on it right now, its been pretty reliable these last two years since I bought it. I think it was a very good first car for me, and it is fairly quick, and looks decent (would have looked better with a spoiler but oh well) I recomend this car, and I'm going to be a little sad to see it go, when I sell it.

I have a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am GT, and it has been a very tough car for me. I used to do a paper route, and it lasted through a year of that kind of abuse. The sensors are touchy and very expensive. I have the 3.3L with some work done to the engine, and I can take almost any average car out there.

1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Summary:

Great for road trips

Faults:

The head gasket blew last year followed shortly by the timing belt.

The air conditioner is not very cold, but the heater is awesome.

Two rust spots starting by the trunk and the wheel-well.

General Comments:

The car handles great.

A very comfortable car. Room for all, even in the back.

Awesome stock radio.

Very impressive power and awesome gas mileage.

1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.3 liter

Summary:

Great first car

Faults:

I have a hole in the exhaust, it does not like to start in the morning, and it bogs when taking until it warms up.

The fan for the radiator does not work, so you cannot idle for long. The heat works so-so.

General Comments:

This car is quick if maintained correctly. Since I've bought the car I have only had to change the oil and replace the battery.

1992 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.3L Quad-4 DOHC

Summary:

Never again!

Faults:

I bought the car home and had to have a hose replaced the next day which was leaking too much oil.

It idles rough.

It misfires.

It runs too rich.

The spark plugs have been replaced three times in two months due to carbon deposits.

It is currently parked in my garage because it will not start.

Here is a list of everything that has been replaced in the last two months:

Fuel injectors, coil pack (twice), coil cover (twice), electronic control module, computer, oxygen sensor, manifold absolute pressure sensor, knock sensor, throttle position sensor, battery, spark plugs, catalytic converter (needs to be replaced again after two weeks of being replaced the first time), and two different heater hoses.

General Comments:

I have contacted the dealer whose only comments are "Sorry you are having problems".

It has nickel and dimed me to death.

Have a cylinder compression check done... (possible bad head gasket). Also could be bad fuel injector (s). Have them checked.

Definitely do a compression check. I've had to replace two (2) heads on mine due to cracking. I have been told there is a design flaw with the single cam Quad Four. I hate mine. Never again will I own a Pontiac.

The Quad4's are notorious for MANY problems, including going through heads and head gaskets like they are going out of style, and intermittent stalling just to name a few. Why GM ever unleashed these pooches out on the public I'll never know.
