1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE1 3.4 (3.4)
Summary:
Very reliable! Some minor issues.....
Faults:
My Lower Intake Manifold Gasket started leaking at 59,000 miles. But, overall I'm happy with my GM. GM's are a lot easier to work on than ANY other make/car.
General Comments:
Just two things have gone wrong at this point. A bad Alternator, and my lower intake gasket. However, I discovered that the lower intake bolts were not tight? Dealers in my area wanted anywhere from $450.00 to $760.00 dollars to perform this job. The gasket only cost $50.00, I'm sure you know where the rest goes to LABOR! I have 17 years + in general automotive experience. So I did it myself. It took me about 9 + hours. Dealers estimated a 5-6 hour job. Although, you really NEED to have ALL THE TOOLS to complete this type of task. I'm willing to lend my knowledge FREE OF CHARGE if your attempting to do it yourself. Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

I was told by the dealer that the car should only be run on regular gas not premium.
