General Comments:
I have a 1999 GAGT with 72,000 on it. Wonderful car! My 3rd GA. First- a 1986-finally went at 280,000 miles- the 2nd a 1992, at 254,000- and even then- just the fuel pump (the original) - but wanted a newer one... so a 1999 it was- bought in 2001. I bought it used at 26,000. Other than the exhaust manifold leaking (warranty) - the car has been excellent! I DID replace the fan resistor ($15) and 30 minutes of my time- AND- I did have a battery Post Come off (HAd NEVER had that happen- under Warranty- a Delco Battery- tightened too tightly, probably by the guy mentioned below) - otherwise- an excellent- fast car. As far as Rotors/Brakes go- expect about every 20-25,000 miles to replace- depending on a thing called "DRIVING CONDITIONS." Anyone who has owned ANY car- that is about how long they SHOULD last. If you are driving on more mileage than that with brakes that old/used- shame on you!
I want to do a few mods- intake- etc. A previous poster mentioned the RAM AIR does little- Ahem... No flaming allowed in here. But- he would not be working on my car- if it ever needed it.
I will have another, please!
Plus- 'Honda Boys' with their Girlfriends HATE GA's! Never lost to their Moddies yet!
Hint- Splurge on Leather next time! SWEET!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

If you keep up with this car it will run forever.
Mine has 91000 on it and I have not had any major problems,
The car I had before it was a Toyota and the one before that was a Honda, they both sucked a lemon, the engine went bad after owning the Toyota for four months, The Honda only liked to make noise and show no power. the grand am is not the most fast on the road, but you can pass with out being scared to make it before a nother car comes on the other side. Ilove my grand am, it has only a 2.4dohc and it will smoke a Honda.
