1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2 Dr 3.4 ltr V6
Summary:
Looks and runs good, is an electrical nightmare
Faults:
Replaced belts.
The cruise control doesn't work, checked fuses and wiring.
The motor makes an odd somewhat quiet screeching noise and the motor is noisy.
The alternator is going out.
Had to replace driver side power window motor assembly twice.
Sometimes when trying to start vehicle, the starter kicks and so does the engine, but it'll take 10 minutes to finally get it started.
Had to replace front wheel bearings.
Tends to have quite a bit of electrical problems.
General Comments:
Vehicle is ecceptionally fast.
Seats ride stiff in front and back.
Very small space in back area.
Is a pain to see out the back window if you aren't that tall, considering the window is so high up.
Has a roomy trunk.
Gets bad gas mileage.
I've kept the routinly maintenance up on this car, but doesn't seem to fail, it always has something new that is going wrong, may not be the motor, but more electrical issues then I've seen in a long time.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

The problem with the starter is the result off the factory
Pass-lock security system not working properly. I had the same problem with my 99 GA SE, about a $300.00 fix at the dealer.
