Faults:

Bad brakes, the worst I have seen, not only do they wear really fast, but they are noisy and unreliable.

Intake manifold gaskets went out at 58000, leaking antifreeze and air, total cost $900!

A rubbing, grinding noise at the front wheels, Got it "fixed", started again less than a year later, I won't even bother going back to get it fixed again.

The check tire pressure light comes on every 1500 miles or so.

Interior upholstery by the windows is coming apart and ripping out.

Control knobs for the AC came off.

Excess road noise.

General Comments:

This car is pretty quick, but no mustang. I am not happy at all with it.

Faults:

ABS sensor not under warranty $850.00 at 37,000 miles.

Inside rear passenger door which is never used started peeling at 40,000 miles $455.00.

Bad tire sensor $1000.00 at 44,000 miles.

Alternator and battery replacement at 38,000 miles $300.00.

General Comments:

You are getting the idea. Originally leased to keep payments low, but ended up being a nightmare.

There are too many other things that have gone wrong with the car to even list.

GM doesn't stand behind the product they sell.

Seems GM got a little too technical when making all these bells and whistles. Apparently they didn't really have the technology.

Faults:

My 1999 Pontiac Grand AM SE is a great looking car.

The only problems so far is that the windows, like everyone else's, have broken. I called the GM company to see if there was a recall on this, because everyone I know who has one has the same problems.

So far I don't know anything. My car dealership will not do anything to help me out.

The cost is $480.00 dollars for a window regulator. They say buying a new/used vehicle is supposed to be a great experience... well let me just say, I would rather have my old 89 Beretta back any day.

Also, when my car is parked downhill, it sits and idles real hard. Who knows what that might be?

I've only owned the car for 3 months, and it's going in the ad weekly before I run into any other troubles.

Faults:

I too have had many problems with my grand am since I bought it new.

First, the rotors were replaced at 10,00 miles and since then they have been either replaced or "machined out" over five times.

At 60,000 miles, the manifold gasket went up and that had to be replaced. Thankfully I had invested in an extended warranty.

Third, my water pump went out at around 90,000 miles. That was before I even had to change the coolant in the car per General Motors recommendation of every 150,000 miles or five years.

The car also shakes violently at highway speeds. Alignments seem to help till I hit a pothole, but nothing else seems to fix the problem other than replacing the rotors every 5,000 miles.

The blower motor for the AC/Heat has not worked on the first or second setting for quite some time now. That will be fixed soon.

I have contacted General Motors several times over the past few years about the problems I've had with a new car, but according to them, I'm not eligible to receive compensation because the car has so many miles on it now.

General Comments:

I would never buy another General Motors car again, unless I had a guarantee that if any problems occur on the new car as I've had on my current Grand AM, that they must fix it at no cost to me. Yea right!
