1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT V6
Summary:
This car looks good, but is a bad investment
Faults:
Bad brakes, the worst I have seen, not only do they wear really fast, but they are noisy and unreliable.
Intake manifold gaskets went out at 58000, leaking antifreeze and air, total cost $900!
A rubbing, grinding noise at the front wheels, Got it "fixed", started again less than a year later, I won't even bother going back to get it fixed again.
The check tire pressure light comes on every 1500 miles or so.
Interior upholstery by the windows is coming apart and ripping out.
Control knobs for the AC came off.
Excess road noise.
General Comments:
This car is pretty quick, but no mustang. I am not happy at all with it.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

We learned the hard way and nobody I've talked to can believe how many problems I've had with my car. Seems as though mine is one of the worst '99 GTs on this site. If you haven't gotten rid of it already, be prepared to keep pouring money into it. I thought nothing else could possibly go wrong this early in the game, but it keeps proving me wrong. I'm finally done with the car and if anyone saw the file of maintenance paperwork on it, nobody would ever want to buy it from me. The outside and inside of the car are still in perfect condition, but everything under the hood is a problem.

I have had the 1999 Grand Am since I bought it new in 1999 and I have to say your way off. I'm not sure how good you take care of it, but people still ask me if its brand spanking new. Also I have not had many problems with it besides the alternator go at 30,000 miles. My breaks are fine and I have no other problems whatsoever. I'd still buy it as used!
