1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4 Ram Air V-6
Summary:
Junk. Stay away
Faults:
Brakes and rotors. Again and again and again and...
Electrical problems-turn signals, blower motor.
Interior parts coming apart - inner door panels, mouldings.
Valves tick for a minute when started.
General Comments:
I hate this car and am fighting with the dealer to dump it. I have never had a problem with a dealership as bad as this one. They have cut the rotors 3 times and now they replaced them. But I lease and pay $20 a month for an extended warranty (4 year) and they said they will not cover the brakes anymore - like it's my fault! My mother-in-law has a 95 Altima with 60,000 miles and hasn't touched ANYTHING except the tires and maintenence. Shame on GM for not recalling these junk cars!!!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I have a 99 Grand Am GT and it's a piece of junk. I have had my car for a total of about 9 days this month. This time my car just won't start. They tried to say that it was my alarm...wrong. Now they think that it is my battery. When we went to pick it up, it also had been broken into right in front of the garage doors. But I have also had my rotors replaced 3 times, 2 new radios, 2 new motors in my passenger window, new sensors all around my car, I have problems with my ABS, low-trac always comes on, and the list goes on. We are also trying to work something out with GM headquarters. All with only 30200 miles

Hello, I have had my pontiac grand am gt for 3 DAYS, not only does it run hot, but they just called me and told me the head is cracked, but I guess that's what I get for buying a used car, i was just thinking about the looks of the car when I bought it nothing else, but like I said I guess this will teach me a thing or two about buying a car on looks alone.

Maybe your car was a lemon...? I have a 1999 GT1 Sedan and it's been a good car. The only problem was the radio. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this car.
