Faults:

Brakes have been replaced 3 times, Brakes puslsating, driver seat motor burnt out, window regulator out leaking coolant from intake and AC went out albout 2 years ago headlight burnt out, fuel regulator went out. too many problems with this car and still owe 20 notes. it's a nice car, but to expensive to fix.

General Comments:

This car is nice and drives real nice and responsive.

Faults:

Only one month after purchasing my Grand Am GT, I noticed an extremely rough idle. After 5 visits to the dealer, my intake manifold was replaced. Unfortunately, the engine still sounds terrible.

For the past few months, the car would shake and nearly die at random times. when the check engine light came on, I took the car in where they discovered burned spark plug wires.

The flasher switch and temperature gage have also been replaced.

General Comments:

When shopping for a used car, nothing really caught my eye. But when I saw my 2000 Grand Am GT, it sure did. I purchased the car in June of 2004 with 47,000 miles on it. A GM extended warranty was also purchased along with the car.

This car has great acceleration and amazing handling for the money. The interior is very comfortable for long trips yet sporty. I love driving this car, and I especially love the look.

However, I have not been impressed with its reliability. In just one year, I have had this car into the dealer nearly 8 times.

Faults:

I replaced both front wheel bearings at 20,000 miles.

There are gas tank issues, the tank will say it's at half, but I will be out of gas.

I have excessive noise, such as loud creaking whenever I put on the brakes.

The car leaks coolant.

Currently in the shop with both rear gaskets cracked.

General Comments:

I purchased my Grand AM in 2003 and within one month of owning the car I had to replace both front wheel bearings. Was driving one day and the car just quit so I had it towed to the nearest shop and thank god the owner was honest, he told me it may be the fuel pump, but he was not sure, he really couldn't find anything wrong with it, well the car was actually reading a 1/4 tank of gas, but was out of gas. I no longer trust the gas gage. When I press the brakes the creaking and clunking is so loud people actually turn around to look at me, but nothing is wrong with the brakes, this I'm told is normal. Now, the last straw today, the low coolant light came on, it did not overheat so I made it to a garage, the bad news $1200.00 for two cracked gaskets, plus $70.00 just for looking at it. Once it's fixed I'm trading it in! Never again will I buy a Pontiac. I have had two Dodges and both ran until about 280,000 before I sold them. I'll stick with Dodge!!

Faults:

The brakes have been replaced all the way around twice. But, I drive in stop and go rush hour traffic an hour to and an hour from work.

A headlight finally burned out!

When the brakes were replaced this past month, we had to replace a caliper and a rotor! Big deal, I am constantly having to ride the brakes due to the traffic I am in.

We replaced the serpentine belt at about 45000 miles. It had not broken, but was worn and weather cracked and I was heading out of state with the car.

I have put a set of 4 tires on the car!

I have had to get it aligned and the oil changed!

General Comments:

My car is super quick, the RamAir is awesome.

This car was totaled out and a salvaged title was issued at about 30000 miles. It has been a dream for me, even with a salvage title.

I have driven this car from Ohio to Daytona Beach and back once, and from Ohio to Alabama and back approximately 7 times. I put about 500 miles per week on the odometer while driving it back and forth to work. The comfort is good for a small, affordable car.

All routine maintenance that has been done to the car has been just that...routine. Check the faults of the car, all of the work that has been performed is nothing shy of what you would expect from any vehicle that is driven.

I have not been left stranded along side the road with this car.

I would not be afraid to buy another. No wait, I believe that I should add..another Grand Am of the newer body style. I did not care for the body style of the older Grand Am. Of course now the G6 has replaced it, so I do not have much choice. I will keep the Grand Am that I have.

I have thought many times of trading this car in for a new car, but I cannot bear to part with my Am!

The stereo system (stock) in this car rocks. I have gotten many compliments on the sound quality that it provides.

The other day, I drove my boss' Mercedes. Let me tell you, that vehicle was so rough riding, I was very disappointed. I was ready to get back into my Grand Am.
