Faults:

Driver's side window motor replaced x 2.

Passenger side window motor dying, but still working.

Dashboard is cracked and peeling upward from sun exposure (didn't happen until I moved from Ohio to Georgia, with a few years of Georgia sun and no garage to park in).

Passcode sensor malfunctions occasionally.

Turn signals don't work occasionally. Need to pound on the hazard light on/off to get them to work.

General Comments:

I've only performed routine maintenance on the car, changing my own oil/filters every 3000-5000 miles. Tuned up at 100000 miles. Fuel filter changed once so far, still on the second set of brakes.

Fuel efficiency, when I used to pay attention, was as high as 28-29 MPG on the highway. Don't think I still get that, but it's probably still close to 24 MPG.

Riding at highway speed with sunroof open, or any other speed for that matter, is more quiet than my Cadillac SRX, though that may have to do with overall aerodynamics rather than poor design.

Fabric interior is showing some signs of degradation due to prolonged sun exposure, but I'm sure it's normal for any car that sits in the sun.

A/C is still cold!

Overall my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4L V6 has been extremely reliable and cost efficient to own.

The only reason I got the 2002 was because my 1996 Grand Am was squished between two SUVs; I escaped without injury.

Faults:

Driver's side window x 2.

PCM mod.

Passcode sensor.

Ignition mod.

Brakes and rotor problems.

Smoke from steering wheel when turning left.

The car does not like to start when it's hot outside.

Sun shining on the dash has destroyed the dashboard; it's rolling back.

Fuel pump.

General Comments:

This car is a piece of crap. Have a 96 Nissan Altima, which runs fine with 196.000 miles.

Faults:

Intake manifold gasket bad when I bought the car (knew about it).

2 power window regulators were replaced.

General Comments:

Bought the car for my son (first car). It is sporty and reasonably priced.

Faults:

Ignition coil replaced.

Ignition modulator replaced.

Front brake calipers replaced.

Fuel pump replaced.

Ignition cylinder replaced.

General Comments:

Looks nice. Had the car inspected before purchase and nothing showed up except the calipers.

Once the car hit the 110,000 kilometer mark, everything started going wrong. Really, this car has reached the end of its life at only 120,000 kilometers. The car only gets used maybe once a week now. If it starts.

The American and Canadian governments should have let GM die. Terrible product. I would even say fraudulent representation by GM.

Faults:

- Front wheel bearings

- Window regulator

- Stereo

- Intake gaskets

- Ignition switch

General Comments:

All the people that are complaining about the occasional problems that this car has: If you don't like it, go pay $10,000 more for a foreign car. You will have MORE into the foreign car in the long run, but apparently you have zero patience so maybe you should just spend the money.

I've had this car for more than 100,000 miles, and yes, it's had silly little problems like the stereo and the windows having trouble, and the ignition switch sometimes keeping it from starting, but you know what? Even with wheel bearings, intake gaskets (and I had the head gaskets done at the same time just in case), window regulator, ignition switch and all the other little repairs here and there, I still have LESS into it than I had into my NISSAN in 50,000 miles.

For the price, this car is AWESOME. It's sporty, relatively quick off the line with the 3.29 final drive ratio that the GT's come with, and it handles well for a front wheel drive car. Definitely the best value in cars I have ever owned, and I have owned several Hondas and Nissans. I will never buy a Honda/Nissan again, because they are fine for 60,000 miles or so with no problems, but then they can suddenly hit you with a $3000 repair. Forget that!!! I can buy a completely new drivetrain for my Grand Am for that much!!!
