2006 Pontiac Grand Am
Summary:
Electrical issues, but basically a good car
Faults:
Electrical issues. The electrical issues normally were more of an irritation than a real problem - fuses blowing more frequently than average - that kind of thing. I had to get the wiring patched several times and finally had to replace the box a couple of years ago, which cost me over $500, and my mechanic cut me a deal since we have taken all our cars to him for years. The motor on one of my windows hasn't worked in years, but I can't afford to replace it.
General Comments:
Overall, it has been a good car. I was the second owner and got it in 2007. I did not really want this car, but it was what I could afford at the time. Due to financial difficulties I still have it after all this time, but the only major problem I have had in all these years is the electrical issues.
The same financial straits lead me to neglect the car awfully - the oil gets changed about every 6 months instead of 3, I never get alignments, I buy tires used and one at a time, and change the brakes when they start screaming. I drive too fast when I can. Other times I putt along at 5 mph in bumper-to-bumper traffic both ways to and from work. With all the abuse this car takes, it is still running at over 140,000 miles. I'll be driving it until the tires fall off or my kid gets old enough to take it over.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
