1977 Pontiac Grand Prix Olds 350

Summary:

The 77 Grand Prix is arguably the most enjoyable car I ever drove

Faults:

The only thing I had to do was change out the radiator, due to neglect from the descendant of the original owner and purchaser. Other than that, the car didn't need anything major. It was well maintained.

General Comments:

I sold the car in 2008 after I purchased the car I really wanted (Boattail Buick Riviera). But I admit I am now second guessing myself for selling the car. I sold it because I didn't have room to keep it.

The Grand Prix was sooooo fun to drive! Always reliable. Starts up on the first crank. Drives and handles smoothly on the highway.

I admit that the Grand Prix actually drives and handles better than the Riv, although the Riv has a bit more power. Actually, I enjoyed driving this car more than my late model cars!

The interior was well maintained and the body was straight with no dents. It could've used a paint job, but I didn't have time to get it done. Everything was all original.

I just recently saw another 77 model Grand Prix for sale. I'm strongly thinking about purchasing it!

1977 Pontiac Grand Prix 403 V8

Summary:

The perfect blend of luxury and performance

Faults:

Mechanically, I have had to do nothing other than routine maintenance. I have replaced the weatherstripping around the doors and trunk. But considering that the old ones held up for 25 years, I'm not complaining.

General Comments:

The 1977 Grand Prix is an absolutely great car. The driver oriented interior fits like a glove. Everything is within easy reach and where you would expect it to be. The torque of the 403 V8 makes for quick acceleration and easy passing on the highway. All that, and I still average 20 miles per gallon highway/city combined. The 8 to 1 compression allows me to run regular unleaded, which makes the car economical to drive, especially when compared with other makes of the same vintage. I highly recommend the car and wouldn't hesitate to own another.

I agree that the '77 Grand Prix is a well-designed car for its time. I bought a '77 GP in 1995 from the second owner. It had about 75k miles on it. It had the small (301) V8, and the engine knocked a little bit whenever it was started, but it never gave me any problems while I owned it and had adequate power. I thought the car handled very well and still felt pretty tight after all those years. I put 25k miles on it with the only repairs being the replacement of the radiator, water pump, and lower radiator hose. It provided six years of good service.

I really grew to love the looks of the car as well. In my opinion, this is one of the most handsome and well-proportioned cars from the 70's. It even got decent gas mileage (15 city and 19 highway).

I had to put in a heater core. Otherwise a good clean car.

General Comments:

I love it! It has all the power I need and still gets 20 miles to the gallon.

Just purchased. Needed shocks, brake shoes and a turn signal bulb, but is overall in great condition.

Love my ROOMY new car!
