Faults:

Power steering pump began leaking approximately 200 miles after I bought it.

Also, began to idle rough, resulting in fuel filter replacement.

Ground effects became loose, also beginning to crack and fade.

General Comments:

Very comfortable car, rides quite well for having such low-profile tires.

Reasonably fast, decent throttle response.

Although this model car comes with its fair share of problems, I lucked out and all the major problems were taken care of before I purchased it, including: Rear brake calipers and rotors, alternator, parking brake system, mufflers, fuel injectors, struts ($1100), power window motors/sensors and transmission.

It is a quick, fun car to drive when it is running properly.

Cabin is well laid-out, and the steering wheel radio controls are a nice touch.

I would recommend it as a beginner car, only if it has been well cared for, otherwise they build up problems fast.

Faults:

Had to have the brakes done, wheel bearing front drivers side, and pass. ball joint.

General Comments:

Great car I picked mine up for $100 and drove it home just needed brakes and wheel bearing.

Faults:

Engine, engine and more engine in the 3.4 model. Had to replace the alternator because of where Pontiac places it on the 3.4.

General Comments:

This car is very fast, very comfortable, but not so reliable in the 3.4 motor. I replaced the engine and the second motor blew out as well. If you are going to buy a Grand Prix, make sure it is the 3.1 or the 3.8. The 3.4 is a nightmare!

Faults:

I replaced the alternator at 220,000 miles. That is normal with any car.

General Comments:

This car is extremely fast and actually very good on gas.

The car is also very tough, I hit two deer with it and have gotten no dents, I also hit a guard rail going like 85mph when I was out raising havoc at night, and all it did was scratch some paint off.

I have never seen a car run so well with so many miles on it, my mom had this car before me and never changed the oil and it actually ran very well.

Faults:

Brakes, this car has always eaten up the brake pads. Emergency brake quit working in 1998.

Alternators, have went through 4 alternators since 1995. Batteries have also been a problem.

Check engine light has been on since 1998, low gas light stayed on for a couple of years and then went off, works fine now.

Driver side automatic window shorts out if I let the automatic switch take it all the way down by itself.

Engine leaks oil around pan, and seals.

Transmission is the original, sometimes slips and jerks, also leaks.

Engine stalls at times, even with new plugs and wires. Began stalling in 2002.

Needed new exhaust system for 3 years.

Headliner began to fall in 2000.

Sending unit failed and allowed oil to leak out in 1998.

Almost entire suspension is gone. Can't afford the repair.

General Comments:

My first car in 1995, been a part of me all these years. Will probably cry when I let her go next year.

Inside is very comfortable and spacious in the front seats.

Wrecked this car 4 times and never had more than a scratch on it, it's my tank.

This car has always been a quick car especially around corners and there are plenty of those in Kentucky. Even without suspension, it still drives great on the Interstate everyday.

I still get about 20-25mpg Interstate driving.

Love this car, wish I could go back and do it all over again and take even better care of her. If I had the money and could do more than change the plugs and wires and brakes and stuff, I would fix everything and keep it.
