Faults:

I have problems starting the car when it is cold. It revs up to 4,000 RPMs then runs really rough, then revs high again and then kills. Also, I just started having problems with the power steering. It was low on power steering fluid so I added some, but it does not seem to be helping any. I only usually have the most problems when I am slowing down or not accelerating.

Faults:

Serpentine belt tensioner broke at 115,000 miles--$125.

Ignition coils failed at 125,000 miles--$200.

Front brake calipers failed at 130,000 miles--$320.

Starter failed at 131,000 miles--$110.

Passenger side window failed at about 100,000 miles; power door locks are hit and miss. Never bothered to fix this.

General Comments:

The car ran beautifully, needing just routine management, until it got to around 125,000 miles. Don't mind the repair bills, but they're costly, and seem to be common on '94 GP's around this mileage.

Runs great now that everything's been fixed. Drove it 140 miles today without a hitch.

The 3100 V6 is adequate, but not powerful; it's best attributes are that it's quiet and reliable.

Seats are very comfortable, put my old Beemer to shame in that regard.

Still looks great after 10 years; so does every other GP of that vintage I see on the road.

As someone else mentioned, the stock speakers are good enough even with a modern head unit.

Faults:

Passenger side power window needed to be replaced when I first bought it. (However, dealership took care of that)

Main power window motor burned out and I couldn't use any windows. I replaced that for a used one for $25.00 two years ago. Still works.

Two years ago the idiot light for the air bags came on and stays on. I was told it would cost $400.00 for a new control box. (I live with the idiot light on, no problem.

Shifter on dash doesn't coincide with what gear it's actually in, but I've learned to shift slowly into each gear and watch the rpms to know. (No one likes to tear out steering columns to fix it and say it may actually cause more problems.)

General Comments:

This car had been maintained well in and out as I have continued the same; it is a great travel car, very comfortable.

It has great pickup and go with a nice smooth ride.

It has a large trunk space that holds more than you can imagine!

Bumpers are extremely absorbent; I was rear-ended on the interstate last year and thrown into the hitch on the jeep in front of me; the result was very little body damage to my Pontiac, none to the jeep, but the car behind me was a mess! I haven't done anything to it, and still driving around.

Faults:

Driver exterior door handle never worked properly, and I was locked out of car twice.

Ignition pack intermittently arcing.

Numerous rattles.

Stereo suddenly gets extremely loud when listening to it at times.

Dash gets hot.

Intermittent loss of power.

Intermittent high idle.

Car has an insatiable appetite for brakes.

Honeycomb rims terrible to keep clean and have corroded around tire bead and leak air at that point.

Belt tensioner went bad.

Right turn signal intermittently won't work.

Engine runs hot. Sometimes bakes the paint off the oil filter.

Trunk leaks.

And on and on...

General Comments:

It is comfortable, easy to handle, roomy, sporty in design and a fast car, but will definitely nickle & dime ya to death.

When first bought the car it was in the shop more than it was in my garage. Even the dealer was starting to think this car was a lemon, but they did everything they could except refunding or swapping for another Grand Prix. (You betcha', I did ask.) I finally gave up on the shop and since have acquired a new hobby.

I loved the look of the car from the first time I laid eyes on it, but sheesh... the amount of time and money I have put into it and wondering what will fall apart or break next makes it not worth the eye candy (just my opinion).

Still have the car because I can't afford another one...huh, can't afford to keep it either.
