1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.4 Liter

Summary:

A high performance sports car with a family car heart

Faults:

In the mornings, it revs up by itself to about 4,000 RPMs and then drops below 1,000 RPMs and does that until put into gear. Like the "choke" is not working right.

Also, I get about 13 miles to the gallon lately. I took it in, because these both sound like fuel problems, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it.

The door holder open thing has been gone since I've had it. It always hits me in the butt. :)

General Comments:

I love this car. It is quite the ticket getter, but other than that, it is fast and fun to drive. I liked my Camaro better, but for different reasons. This car is every bit as sporty, but kind of a family car at heart.

Does anyone know if I can get an after-market supercharger?

If anyone has any advice on the fuel problem I am having, email me at: nervous_94@hotmail.com

1995 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.4 DOHC

Summary:

A good all around front wheel drive car, none better!

Faults:

1. New alternator 2 weeks after I bought it.

2. New air flow sensor 2 months after purchased.

3. Rebuilt transmission because the other broke, $2,000.

4. Dealership ripped the tint of my car when purchased.

5. New battery 3 weeks after purchased.

General Comments:

If you are looking for a fast car with great styling and great comfort, go buy a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, but be warned that if it's used it is probably going to need some loving and tender care. Oh yeah, and a check book because they can be expensive to get fixed.

The car has superb performance for a V6. It can outrun a lot of V8 sports cars.

Now you can't find many after-market parts for the car.

1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1

Summary:

A great car, which I have thoroughly enjoyed

Faults:

At 36k miles, the rear intake manifold blew ($600).

At 36k miles, the hood latch release cable broke at the interior latch area.

At 50k miles, the alternator died ($300).

General Comments:

Other than a few expensive repairs, this has been an excellent car.

I get a lot of positive comments from friends and acquaintances, for it's looks and performance.

It is fun to drive, and has really held up great.

I have installed new shocks and struts above all four tires, yet the car still tends to bounce a bit excessively (it doesn't ride like a Cadillac).

I am only 5' 11", but I feel like I am 6' 11" when I am in the car...

1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 L V6

Faults:

Both drivers and passenger side self holding door hinges stopped working @ approx. 60,000.

Transmission blew @ 75,000.

VATS computer died @80,000.

Drivers side door glass tab (holds the window in the track) wore down and the window falls out of the track unless held when rolled up or down.

Alternator died @100,000.

General Comments:

If it weren't for the extended warranty that I purchased with the car, I'd be rather disappointed with this car.

Overall, what a dependable, decent looking, quick and cheap car.

1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.1 V6

Faults:

Blown head gasket, broken e-brake, thermostat, brakes, a lot has gone wrong since I got it. It's a phat car, but it's really unreliable. After this one I'll only get a Japanese car, sorry to say it.

1995 Pontiac Grand Prix Special Edition 3.1 L V6

Summary:

Sporty, good handling car

Faults:

ERV valve blew at 67,000.

Alternator whines.

General Comments:

A very comfortable car, but as with our Bonneville... GM seems incapable of making a reliable alternator.

Just bought this car.. it is very comfortable. This GP has much more pep than those of old.

I wish GM would have kept the six-gauge option for the dash. Handles very well.
