Power steering has gone out.
Hoses have had to be replaced.
Problems with the headlights.
Electrical problems, both power windows have gone out.
It's a nice-looking, fun car to drive, however it has its bugs. Fortunately, all of the repairs were under warranty, but it has gone in for a warranty service 6 times in less than 3 years.

Great looks + performance + price
The rear child safety latch wouldn't unlatch. I don't blame GM though, because my 10 year old daughter always seemed to slam the door way too hard, and eventually the lever inside popped out of place. Simple fix at the dealer.
All around great car. One of the best I've owned, which says a lot. In the last 15 years, my family and I have owned two Chevrolets, three Pontiacs, a Hyundai, two Hondas, three Fords, a Triumph, three Nissans, a Mercedes, two Porches, a Chrysler, a Mazda, and two Dodges. We currently own a Honda Civic, a Dodge Durango, a Chevy Blazer, a Mazda Miata (my other car) and this Grand Prix, my daily driver.
The lease is up in Feb/01, and I think I just might buy the car. I love driving it, and even my 18 year old son likes to borrow it because the stereo is so good.
I'm not one of those fools who think Japanese is automatically good and American is automatically bad. This car is good, solid, all around construction and engineering, at a good price.
I will say that the dealer will make all the difference here, and Toyota & Honda dealers are the best, and GM dealers generally just suck.

Nice driving car, rotten paint processes
Excessive debris under the paint, paint flaked off, dash came apart - pin stripping pieced together. Dealer tried buffing out the debris now I have buff burns and scrathes all over my car. Their solution made it worse.
I was told by a Pontiac rep that they do not paint to showroom quality, that I was being too picky and I should get the hood repainted for the 3rd time and live with the other defects because no one but me would ever see them. It is sad that quality and appearance is not an important issue with Pontiac.

I own a Grand Prix GT that is the forest green. Everybody that has seen my car loves the color and the quality of the paint. You might have got a bad apple, but don't please don't criticize the Grand Prix. In my opinion they are the best cars for the buck.
There are always factory defects to a certain point. I do agree with the customer service aspect, Pontiac didn't treat me very good either, that's why I custom ordered mine through a Fleet Lease company.

It is hard to find a car which gets great gas mileage on the road and great acceleration.
The car has been solid. I have 40,000 miles on it.
I don't like the leather seats as they are too stiff. I use an insert to cushion the seat.
