Faults:

The A/C drain clogged, causing water to overflow onto the carpet.

General Comments:

I have been impressed by this car's reliability. I have nearly 50,000 miles and not one mechanical problem. The only time it was in the shop was to have the a/c drain unclogged. I don't know why GM doesn't use a larger drain to prevent this common problem. The performance is good, but they should have put in a 300 HP engine like the prototype. That would get this car to perform a lot more like my old '67 GTO in a straight line. My past car was a 1988 Grand Prix SE, which my son now drives. That car had more than it's share of mechanical problems while still under warranty, but not too many after it aged a little. It has about 170,000 miles and was in a wreck last year and still runs like a top. Pontiac should have taken a look back at the '88 when designing the newer models. Although the 2000 is superior in performance and reliability, the ride comfort, comfort of the seats (the leather seats are too stiff for long rides), the controls design and placement, the instrumentation design and placement and performance of the headlights are all much better on the '88. I do like the 2000 and think the body and interior are much better looking than the 2004 Grand Prix.

Faults:

Had to have the HUD system replaced (under warranty).

General Comments:

Whoa!! That's all I have to say about this car. It makes any drive a satisfaction.

Get the BOSE stereo. It is worth every penny you will spend.

The Supercharger will kick you in the pants every time you hit the accelerator.

What else can I say, 31MPG on the highway between Seattle and LA.

Excellent seats and awesome exterior styling make this car a joy to look at and drive.

Faults:

The Head-up Display faded sporadically after 2 years (35,000 miles) and had to be replaced.

Headlight modules collected condensation and require periodic drying.

Interior plastic trim has annoying rattle.

General Comments:

The cabin and seats are comfortable on long trips. I am 6'4", my son is 6'2", and we have made 8 hour trips comfortably.

The supercharged 3.8 liter engine makes the car a joy to drive.

Wind noise is distracting, and is heard through all doors and windows.

The Bose sound system is really nice for listening to all types of music.

Standard suspension on this car is not good. There is considerable body roll in turns and hard impact on the shock stops even on interstate highway "dips".

Faults:

The ignition went out. Left us stranded. The service department was horrible.

The battery came apart, leaking acid everywhere, left us stranded.

The a/c tube backed up, draining itself onto the passenger side floor board.

General Comments:

Nice styling, lots of room, but the driver's seat was not as comfortable as I had hoped.

Faults:

Just over the 36k miles warranty and I began to have the same ABS / traction control problem as I read somewhere else on this site. I knew it might be pricey, but I was devastated to find it's going to cost me well over $1000 for just this single repair. I hate to say it, but I'll never by another Pontiac, and I'll hesitate to buy another GM vehicle.

General Comments:

It handles similarly to my old '86 Z28, for a sedan. Not like it's on rails, but good for a sedan. I thought it would be a good trade off between a family car and sports car, but this recent repair bill has made me re-evaluate my loyalty to GM.
