Faults:

The fuel injection system has been giving me a bit of a hassle, but is being kept under control with a good bottle of fuel injector cleaner.

Shortly after buying the car I had to replace the fuel pump. Since then no real major problems have come up.

My trunk and driver door leak uncontrolled and are causing my carpet and seats to discolor. Due to the constant water in the car the driver seat has completely split open. The passenger seat is locked in one position and no longer moves.

The speedometer sometimes drops to zero without any apparent reason when reaching speeds above seventy quickly.

General Comments:

This car is wonderful for teenagers and young adults that don't have a lot of time or money to invest in a car. The car requires minimal maintenence, is good on gas, and has affordable repair costs.

The real fun of this car is dressing it up. Because the car itself didn't cost much, I had more money to spend on the looks of the car such as low profile tires, 15 inch alloy wheels, tinted windows, and CD/Tape deck stereo system.

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car yet.

Although, the lights on my gear switch sometimes goes out, but it can be solved with a tap.

Some rust around the door handles and wheel wells.

The seats were wearing down, but I fixed it with seat covers.

General Comments:

The car needs a body job. It has alittle rust, but no holes. When I bought the car, it had holes in the trunk and under the doors, but was fixed before purchasing- a safety check.

This car is my first one, I am 16, and it is very reliable. It has excellent gas mileage and gets me from Point A to Point B.

Faults:

Had to replace the distributor cap, rotor, and tubing that connects to the spark plugs. $35.00.

Seats are worn. Bought seat covers.

Shakes when going between 65-73 mph.

Got a new paint job.

General Comments:

My car is a great first car. I'm only 16 but it gets me where I'm going. The insurance for me is only $80 a month so it's very afforadable. Not very comfortable when travelling long distances, but it tolerable. I love this sucker!

Faults:

The car had some scratches and slight body damage.

The interior roof of the car is starting to drop.

General Comments:

This car is a really great first car. Although it doesn't have the power or speed of today's car-it holds its own.

Nice acceleration.

Interior is in great shape.

Great handling and handles turn quite nicely.

All this for only 800 bucks!!

Overall A great car that does much more than get you from point A to B.

Faults:

As of now the convertible top doesn't go up or down by it's self, it is now manual. The A/C doesn't work. The seats don't move back or forward, they are stuck in place. Other than that it is great.

General Comments:

It is a wonderful car, for being an 88 it is almost rust free.

It has a large truck, and the top doesn't fill it like some other convertibles.

It handles well, with no floating in the front end.

Faults:

I purchased the vehicle with a cracked head and a malfunctioning water pump. This $1700 repair, on top of the mere $500 I bought the car for was well worth it. other than those initial repairs, I have maintained the car well, and am working on the only other serious problem: Rust. I replaced the driver's door and got the door repainted at a cost of about $500.

Overall the car, even with the 245,000 km is no lemon!

General Comments:

I am truly amazed at the 2.0 liter turbo engine in this vehicle. Even with a power-robbing automatic transmission, the car still accelerates at amazing speed, and a good driver should be able to give most other 4 cylinder cars a good run for their money!

I have raced my friend's Honda Prelude of the same year and left him in the dust! The car is comfortable to drive with its plush interior, good sound with its 3-way stock speakers in the rear coupled with a good deck, smooth steering and tight suspension. The Pontiac Sunbird turbo is totally under-rated!
