1989 Pontiac Sunbird LE 2.0L OHC/FI
Summary:
This bird is called the Rustbird, Rainbird, Humming Bird
Faults:
Coolant Leak at 174,000 km a bottle of stop leak fixed that, I had no idea where I was loosing the coolant and the engine would always overheat. Its Great now.
Rear shocks, Complete Brake Job, Rotors, drums, lines, pads, shoes the whole nine yards.
Tune up every spring, before winter, Plugs, PCV valve, Lube, oil, filter, Air filter.
Car is extremely good on gas, very loud when driving it hard, tight steering and body rusts like nothing.
No Cup Holders!!!
Granny shifter which I hate.
Parts are extremely cheap and easy to find.
General Comments:
I love the car, its been good to me, I abuse it though sometimes, but it is always cheap to fix and run. It never lets me down except for cold weather sometime the ignition gets frozen and you can't turn the key, and when you do you have to press the gas pedal to the floor to start it. Make sure you have a good battery that can handle this car in cold weather that's all I can say.
I Replaced the factory speakers and stereo because the other ones where complete garbage.
If they didn't rust, and the head gaskets didn't go more than other cars they would probably still be on the 2004 showrooms.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
