1994 Pontiac Sunbird LE 2.0 4 Cylinder

Summary:

Awesome, very reliable car

Faults:

The radiator started leaking pretty bad. Had to replace it. It was in rough shape when I got it.

I had to replace the exhaust and muffler.

I had to replace the rear hub assemblies on both rear wheels. Whoever put the tires on previously tightened the nuts down to hard. I ended up snapping off a few of the bolts. That's not the car's fault.

I currently have a faulty spark plug wire which causes a cylinder to skip, but will be cheap to replace.

Has some rust on the doors (Canadian winters and salt aren't easy on exteriors of cars).

General Comments:

I love this car. It's my third car and it has so far been the best. I've hardly had to do anything to it and most of what I've had to do is just general stuff.

It has good acceleration, handles well, and is fairly comfortable. I really like the seats. I'm 6'1" and I find it fairly easy to get in and out of and the seats are pretty comfortable.

It has been a really reliable car for me so far. I think it will be as long as I maintain it. Gas mileage is pretty good too.

Just wondering, who told you that you needed to replace the whole hub? when a lug stud breaks all you need to do is unbolt the hub, tap out the broken stud, and put a new one on, this goes for pretty much any Front wheel drive car. it has happened to my sunbird and I think each lug stud costs like $1.99, I think someone was pulling your leg and you didn't NEED to replace the whole stud.

Summary:

Reliable and comfortable

Faults:

This is a great car, nothing has gone wrong with it for me, I had a little front end damage, but that's my fault, I was hottdoggin around too much.

General Comments:

The car is really good on fuel economy, and has a great kick and can beat quite a few models of cars, trust me I know this.

The interior is great and comfortable, I would choose this car over any older model of Pontiacs.

9/29/05.

I had my car for 3 years, I posted once before, I just had my car brought to a mechanic because my '94 4 door LE would pause and even die because the gas pedal was sensitive, I just had it looked at and had the timing belt replaced not two months before, and it still had the similar problem until I had it check out, and found the part that holds the timing belt, the damper had broken a piece, so the timing belt would not be kept tight. I found the piece in a junkyard for $6.50, easy to remove only two bolts, and the sunbird has crazy fast acceleration!

Summary:

I love the car

Faults:

The passenger window lift motor isn't working.

The middle console is beginning to fall apart.

The passenger seat's hold mechanism isn't keeping the seat in place, it moves forward.

The trunk is leaking for some reason, suddenly.

General Comments:

The gas mileage is terrific. 128 miles on a little less than 1/2 tank, (3 gals)

It has comfortable seats for long distance driving.

AC works well and is easy to fill with freon.

The engine is a workhorse, but is in too small a space to do any general repairs at home.

It has a great radio and speaker system, with great range.

It has style.

I have a 1994 Sunbird, it's an awesome car for a teen. We got it when it had 145,000km, although it isn't great on gas (9.5L/100km), and as most of american cars at this age start to rust.

It's heavy, therefore it drives very well on highways, even when it's very windy. In the winter I NEVER GOT STUCK, even when driving through 1.5 feet of snow - it's a great car.

Now it has 180.000km, ball bearings tend to go quite often, along with the exhaust and air, which after it broke, I didn't bother to fix.
